Somehow I forgot that Beal is 32yo, Kawhi is 34yo and Harden is 35yo.

Yes but that also have Lopez that is 37 and Batum 36. They also have young guys Zubac 28 and Collins 27. It is still a loaded team and should be a 50+ win team again. Wolves can finish anywhere from #2 to #8.

Every year, off-seasons remind me that almost all of the free agents, who get to choose a destination, usually pick one of a handful of blessed teams. It’s a huge, unfair advantage when these teams always have banner off-seasons, and current or former All-NBA players choose to go to the same teams over and over (like LeBron joining the lottery Lakers and winning a championship there).

I hear news that Tim Connelly is in on all these guys, like he should be, but I wonder if it’s ever going to matter. Every off-season MIN can’t make a dent in free agency - our best FA in free agency was bench player Kyle Anderson! The only chance for the other 25 or so teams is to get lucky and draft a superstar or two, and convince them to stay. It’s always frustrating for me, this time of year.

What is worse is the Cap and Apron actually hurt Twolves (and Cavs) who drafted well and made big trades. They got to change the Supermax rule but hope they don't change it just in time to help OKC :D

Since SGA, Williams and Chet all signed their extensions this summer, its too late to help them.

The Clippers are hoping Beal replaces Powell, but they are going to be sadly mistaken.

I'm noticing it depends more on the player. Not everyone is taking paycuts to go sign minimums with the "destination" teams. It's more about opportunity and contract, neither of which we can really offer.

Beal used to be much better than Powell, but injuries and age may have diminished his game.

Did not see it coming, but kind of cool that Dame chose his original franchise and keeping his family local. Never chased a ring.

Given he has a dead year the ability to mentor a young team is a big asset. Makes sense from both sides.

Also allows for him to be near his kids, which I think was a huge motivation for him.

Right. Portland is home. His family, social circle, business ventures, etc.

I was talking more from the teams perspective. Outside of the bump in ticket sales, having a legit vet like Dame is good for the young guys. I of course agree about him going home to be close to his family/community. That’s why I said makes sense from both sides.

Maybe now, but this has been a historic problem for MIN. Our low talent teams of the past didn’t win games, but had opportunity for a guy to get a ton of shots up and be a league top scorer. And MIN always overpaid in dollars or years to even get remedial free agents, like Troy Hudson.

As it should be. It says a lot about his character and family values as a man. Good for him.

Terry Rozier is our next contestant on who wants to be banned from sports for being a crooked gambler.

Derik Queen out until the start of the season or longer.

Derik Queen will be out at least 12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist.

The New Orleans Pelicans acquired the draft rights to Queen in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks on draft night in which they sent the No. 23 pick and the more favorable unprotected 2026 first round pick via their own or the Milwaukee Bucks.

Queen appeared in three Summer League games for the Pelicans, averaging 14.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27.1 minutes.
