So.. Coby was too far I guess.. but not giving up the dream/template/bad idea..
Dallas - Monk and a 2026 first
Charlotte - Gafford
Sacramento - Martin, Pat, 2026 first
Sac gets the better of .. “2026 Dallas first top 10 protected” or “worse of Orlando/Mem/Phx”
So if AD is healthy - Sac gets an early teens pick for Monk and a wing to replace Jake. Pat is salary filler for a trade for a backup center if they want to address that - or just sit on him..
And if AD is not healthy, Sac gets a really late first for Monk.
Dallas looks to trade Klay or Christie for a bench big. Or aim lower and trade Williams/Powell/2nd for a bench big. your choice*

jayjaysee wrote:djFan71 wrote:How does CHA value Salaun? Rough first year, but I assume they keep him and see how it goes? Would Green / Salaun be considered a neutral package they'd gladly send out?
Of course it's for Simons. CHA pays $6.1M more this year, but then is free and clear of future salary and could try to resign Simons cheaper. But, that only works if they just want off Green and Salaun salary for 26-27.
Seems really bad for Boston. Don’t think Salaun’s survived that rookie season. CLT can hold on to him and hope he develops - he’s really young and it’s definitely possible, but he shouldn’t have any value right now besides being a likely expiring.
Yeah, that was my initial thought, but figured I'd test the waters coming out low for BOS. I'd take back a couple 2nds too, if CHA insisted.

I don't mind Green's next year that much - it's not that big and is expiring next summer when BOS can aggregate meaningfully. Send Tillman out too and BOS gets to $12M over tax. Can whittle down Green, Salaun, Niang, possibly Hauser in other moves.

As the main value the Hornets are sending for Claxton is probably the draft capital, you might want to specify that.

Re: Rumors, Random Thoughts, and Non-threadworthy Posts The 19th Hole
so jayjaysee keeps working on Mavs deals to improve the team, or help a tank, or help the finances.
What I want to know is which team is taking Prosper for cash(a first apron team can send cash right?), because that's likely all that's left of the Mavs off-season. Then if Nembhard is the player we all irrationally already expect him to be, we can worry about who takes Powell or Williams by the deadline so they can convert him to a standard multi-year deal.
Or ideally they trade Powell and Prosper now and sign Ben Simmons too. Yes I know he probably won't be healthy much and yes, I know he was barely a backup center for the Clippers last year, but I still want to believe there is a player there and until he is signed I will want Dallas to take that gamble.

I kind of miss OKC being a rebuilding team ready to absorb salary for seconds and take on reclamation projects.
Kind of.

Yeah.. don’t really care which direction. Just actually commit to one.
I do really love the idea of Ben and Nembhard for Powell and Prosper though. Still on Simmons island with you.
I think Phoenix should be trying to get Ben though honestly. Know he is rumored for NY, but Phoenix could give him a shot at a big role on a team at least trying to win games..

I don't think Dallas need to make any moved, they are chilling under 2nd apron.

A la carte from 12 second round picks on reserve + 4 outside protected 1st round picks on reserve.
Plenty of flexibility on pick compensation if this financial/player framework is viable.

Simmons has had 3 failed stops now, 4 if you include LSU. I honestly don't get it, he's incredibly limited on the court and a malcontent off

It’s a vet min signing.
20-30 games of him is better than 40 games of Powell.
And Simmons has the potential, long shot as it is, to push other people down on the depth chart. Powell does not have any shot of that realistically..

Can pass and defend off the bench. Could do worse for vet min.

is Prosper worth a tryout? our backup forward situation is like, really really bad if Grant Williams isn't serviceable after his ACL recovery, and we just cut our best backup 3/4 in Okogie

I love the fact that heaps of people trying to trade "LeBronny" ...
Why don't Lakers just come out and trade Bronny instead, Do Lebron a dirty and make him waive his NTC or ask for a trade? lol.

I don’t think the Dame signing will have any impact on Jrue.
But the bad idea keeps going..
Gafford to CLT
Klay, Pat, Powell and the worse of Orl/Mem first to Portland
Jrue and Reath to Dallas
Dallas clears just enough room for Nembhard and gets the old guard some of us wanted. I’d rather pay some seconds to get Diabate instead of Reath, but oh well.
Portland gets a different old guard who can provide spacing and gets a late first.

He hasnt really shown much, but could be easily attained. The front court is just too crowded in Dallas, well at least until AD misses 27 games for post nasal drip. But for a team like CHA, cant see how it hurts to give him some PT and shine. He wasnt a reach when he was drafted, i think most mocks had him as a FRP in the 20's that year

Simmons looks much better on a vet minimum. Beal looks much better on a TP-MLE. Russ Westbrook looks much better on vet minimums and such. Etc.
These guys aren’t absolutely terrible players. They’ve been vilified for a long time because of their massive contracts. But take those massive contracts away and replace them with MUCH cheaper deals, and they all of a sudden make a ton of sense as someone you can use situationally, rather than needing 75+ games and 30+ minutes a night out of.

So..
Cam Whitmore for the right to swap 2026 “worst of OKC/Houston/LAC” for “worst of NOP/MIL”
Washington paid two seconds for Cam and now gets to move up probably 8-10 spots (if Giannis stays in Milwaukee) next year by flipping him? Seems good / too good?
Milwaukee can look to do the Kuz for Patrick+Ayo or whatever deal after this and gets the least valuable first in the entire league?
