Shams: Damian Lillard Returning to the Blazers on a 3-yr/$42M Deal

Post#1 » by Castle Black » Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:18 pm

Wow. This is awesome tbh. Going back home instead of ring-chasing. I respect it honestly. Good for him and good for the city of Portland. Now he'll get to retire a Blazer like he should. Good stuff.

He quite literally ran back to the grind!

This is so good for the NBA.

I thought he was going to Miami, but I’m glad he chose Portland. Grass isn’t always greener

this man's agent must be the best in the business, holy ****. $70 mil this year for rehabbing and then hoping to come back 100% for another $70 mil.

Lillard gets one of the worst injuries you can get late in his career and comes away with a 14mill raise for 2 years and a player option afterwards just in case he gets back to form and is capable of getting a much larger salary. Not bad.....

I bet he wishes he never left. This is actually pretty cool, props for not ring chasing too.

Good for him!

There are a lot of ringless all-time great players (ex. Westbrook, AI etc.) who's legacies would be better off if they had just stayed with their original teams. Rings are important, but him winning a ring as some role player on a contender wasn't going to do anything for his legacy. Like how many people care about the ring Gary Payton won in Miami?

Get healthy, Dame and finish your HOF career on a high note.

I love this. Respect to Dame.

Blazers just skyrocketed up my "if not Toronto, I hope they win" rankings.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

His family is here. Both blood and otherwise. He has a dealership and so many other ventures in Portland. To make no mention of his kids. He's coming home.

Good for him. It was never right in Milwaukee but he always seemed to give it his best. Sucks we never saw him and Giannis healthy in the playoffs together.

Very cool to see. He wants to be where he knows he'll be happy, not worried about chasing cheap rings by riding coattails

Wow. Really didnt expect PDX to have interest in him with Holiday and Scoot. But screw it - this is really cool. Even if he is only a bench shooter after the injury, this AV isnt crazy.

Welcome home. 2 year hiatus and we got Deni, Camara and some FRP out of it lol.

Now trade for McCollum. I'm all for the nostalgia.

He was comfortable there. The guy sucked up so much of their cap space for years at the end. They had no chance of winning. He got his money and stability though. I don't think he really cared about winning a title.
