We need a poll for JDD vs IT for the last roster spot
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I told people he wasn't signing for the vet min. I didn't expect $14 million per season.
Portland is crazy. But good for Dame. More money, loves the area, kids.

So all that fuss about him needing to leave Portland and go win elsewhere only to ultimately get seriously injured, not win, and end up right back in the same spot.

Re: Lillard (signs with Blazers 7/17/25)
The Blazers traded Dame for Jrue and picks, then traded Jrue for a couple picks, then traded for Jrue with Simons straight up then sign Dame for cheapish..so they basically moved Simons for Jrue and several picks and get the Bucks to pay Dames Salary. 3D chess

Thanks god Celtics didn't sign him. We need to be younger not add another player past his prime.

For the minimum, it would have been fine. Likely nothing consequential, but fine, with some upside if he returns to form......but for the deal he got, no way would I want that for us.

He'll sell tickets at least.

$70 million per year with no pressure to win is not a bad deal

Summer of Slum...
I think coming off the bench for the Celts, he would have had a great opportunity to win the 6MOTY award...

Celtics need someone who can lighten the defensive burden on Tatum not someone to take the ball out of his hands.

We've had it confirmed in Portland too that the Celtics were basically the only other team he seriously considered.
Seeing Dame sign with Minny would have been a gutpunch. As a Blazer fan, we already had to go through that once. Brandon Roy was the closest thing to Dame the Blazers have seen in the 2000's. He retied, only to try and comeback with the Wolves. Seeing Dame there would have sucked. Seeing Dame in Boston would have been reasonable.
Dame stuff aside, I'm here to ask any Boston fans who might have some insight... wtf is up with the Simons/Jrue deal?
I know it's done, but is it just me or do any of you all find it weird neither the Celtics or Blazers have done introductory press conferences - or even scheduled them - for either player. This deal was agreed to about a month ago now, "officially" completed about 12 days ago... and still nothing of the FO's doing a small press conference to take questions, local media interview the new player and hold of the new jersey as is customary. I find it weird for Portland (made only weirder in the past 48hrs with the Blazers signing Dame), and Bill Simmons has pointed out the same on the Celtics side... So what is the deal here?
Is it that for both Boston and Portland, they consider their new players of Simons and Jrue just 1 year rentals (Boston letting him walk or deadline deal, Portland trading him next summer when Dame is healthy to play) so they just don't want to bother with the pressers? Are both Simons and Jrue not stoked about the deal and the teams don't want awkward answers to the local media? Maybe one team isn't comfortable doing an intro press conference until the other does it?
It just all very odd to me for a pretty common thing teams do for traded players...

For Celtics, it's more likely to be Brad Stevens trying to find a redirect trade for Simons. They didn't have one for Georges Niang either.
