I'm trusting Bobby Marks over Keith Smith. But plausible Marks screwed up his analysis.

Those late 20’s picks should help keep the wheels of the treadmill rolling.

We basically gave Portland Jrue and control of our draft from 2028 to 2030, and took a cap anchor of $20mm for five seasons for the right to rent Dame for two years. Plus of course the actual $113 million cash our owners have to pay.

Sure, but if we would have dealt Dame at the deadline, we'd have been golden. Tough to predictable catastrophic injury though.

FVV and Tari Eason would look great about now. But onward we go. At least Giannis is still sailing on the ship he helped build. That counts for a lot.

FVV opt out then we let him walk and sign Turner (or Grimes)? Hellyeah

You're welcome! It's opportunity cost. Was nice you overpaying for his services, mitigated our sacrifice to try to win ANOTHER championship though.

Why? I respect the hell out this decision. He tried to go after a ring with another star and it didn't work out. He could have ended his career ring chasing like a lot of others before, but instead is going to the retire with the team he'll always be remembered with and be closer to his kids.

Because he can’t win anything. Like in basketball.

if theyre prancing him out there the next few seasons it makes it that much less likely our picks convey imo

i think its 100% a value prop for their franchise to put butts into seats.

Agreed. I think LeBron's championship in Cleveland is one of the NBA's greatest stories.

But I don't think Dame went back for the franchise. There were rumors he was unhappy here being away from his family. He tried to ring chase but he realized it was more important to be with his kids. It's hard not to respect his decision to be a dad.

Agreed. 2021 is obviously my favorite, but second is the LeBron Cleveland storybook ending.

This shows he was truly homesick the entire time in Milwaukee. He tried but his heart was in Portland tje entire time. And him going back almost immediately shows it.

For the first time in his career, he was a free agent and could have gone anywhere.

And without hesitation he went right back home.

It all worked out in the end, I'm happy for him, and it also validates just how homesick and how much he was internally struggling being away from home.

McCollum demanding trade to Portland.

Wonder if Portland does a Jrue for McCollum swap then Washington buys out Jrue.

Wonder why you'd say that when Jrue's not expiring like McCollum. He has a massive 3 yr contract. What's the benefit to the Wizards? For the privilege of spending almost 100m more and having 30/yr of dead cap? PDX also values Jrue, oddly, cuz they gave up assets to get him.

I would assume Portland would offer something to sweeten the deal. No clue why either of those teams do half of the moves they do. I can see Portland trying to make Dame happy.

Could see these teams doing something weird like

CJ and Kispert for Grant and Advidja

And then Portland trading Kispert and our picks back for Kuzma, because why not?

If PDX-DC were going to make a move of that nature, it'd involve Grant a lot more likely, w/ the Wizards getting multiple 1sts, maybe ours, for their troubles. Then the thought process of dead asset/picks for expiring player that's coveted would make some sense.

There's a deal that's a lot more straight-forward, of Rob Williams & Thybulle for McCollum. Those are all expirings.

DC doesn't need to bend over backwards to make Dame or CJ happy to the point they're taking on a bad contract & player who doesn't fit their timeline. Neither does PDX, while dealing Jrue who they just valued. They can just deal guys they don't value to make Dame & CJ happy.
