I get what you’re saying, but I think a lot of people miss what actually makes him funny. For example, he’ll say something like “that’s gay,” which by itself sounds like a dumb joke from 2005. But that’s the point. It’s funny because it reminds you of how people talked in high school back then, and he’s making fun of that mindset, not promoting it.
Like someone said, “I got married last weekend,” and his response was, “congrats, what’s his name.” If you only hear the words, it just sounds like a basic joke. But it’s the way he says it that makes people laugh. He’s really making fun of himself for telling something so obvious and dated, and that self-awareness is what makes it funny.
Totally fair if it’s not your thing, but I think a lot of people miss that part of his humor and judge it just by the surface.
How can you not find this funny?
Because its been done before about a million times. You could walk onto any high school campus in suburban America and experience the same comedy.
Who else does this type of comedy? I'm not that into American comics.
A lot of young comics do what this guy is saying Shane does, but Shane is just the best at it. He is portraying this frat boy energy comedy, which isn't all Shane is about. He's a very smart guy, actually majored in history and does a lot of great history comedy as well. I'm not a big Shane fan, I do like him, but this poster is making it a bit too simplistic
