i was reading an article about minorities in executive positions so i wanted to go back to see how many team execs in the nba that won titles were minorities.

going back 40 years, there were 4:

1986 kc jones
2004 joe dumars
2019 masai ujiri
2023 calvin booth

for ed rogers to call masai arrogant (aka uppity) and overpaid 1 year after winning a title is just nuts.

Looking at that list I'd say the common denominator is arrogance.

Also looking at that list a good deal of them inherited superstars. Booth, Stevens, Nelson, Kupchak, Griffin, Horst, Myers, Pelinka. Then you have the guys that landed their 1As through trade (Presti, Riley, Ainge, Masai, Dumars). Only Buford drafted his superstar. I think Masai has a right to be arrogant. He probably lacked some political IQ by leaking all that **** about one of his bosses. Maybe he doesn't care and it was worth it. Reminds me a bit about Chris Rock's difference between being rich and being wealthy. Ed Rogers is the one signing the cheques. Masai will likely collect every last cent and move onto a market that free agents like to play. Sean Marks is on the clock.

not saying this means anything, but a lot of the sports media personalities that left sportsnet, particularly on basketball side were non-white people (Will Lou, Alex, Savanaah Hamilton).....

i'm sure there are valid reasons they had but after a while, a pattern emerges

Go back and read some of the comments he allegedly made about Masai the first time he tried to have him fired and you might rethink your views.

Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke has been indicted on a federal criminal conspiracy charge related to his alleged role in rigging the bidding to develop, manage and operate the University of Texas' basketball arena in Austin.

Leiweke, 68, is accused in the indictment of conspiring with another would-be bidder on the $338 million Moody Center arena project to induce that second company to drop out of the competition with Oak View Group in exchange for receiving lucrative sub-contracts at the arena.

Guess no Tim reunion.

Masai had a good run

I'm glad he's gone as he'd blamed everyone for his lack of focus post championship and blew up a solid core

Hopefully someone else comes in as hungry as he did and wants to win

After being pissed off that Masai was fired, I'm at the acceptance stage and am excited about the future.

I'm leaning towards Bobby getting promoted as I feel like he'll leave and get scooped up immediately if we hire a new president.

See what Bobby can do on his own for two years and go from there. Who knows what the guy can do out of Masai's shadow.

I don't think Bobby has a strong market out there. Outside of one team bulls years ago(right after our championship), he hasn't been floated/permission/interviewed with any teams.

KC Jones was head coach of the Celtics not a GM or exec.

Jan Volk was GM. White guy. https://www.retroseasons.com/teams/boston-celtics/history/general-managers/

Just heard on Colin Cowherd radio show today, Nick Saban left Alabama, and no chance he'd return, because in the NIL era Bama can't compete with Texas and Ohio State in terms of donations from boosters and fundraising for the NIL fund each year. A handful of schools led by those two are way ahead of the pack financially. So it's interesting to read about U of Texas money dealings in another area.
