Might be the dumbest career arc I've ever seen in sports.

Rehabbing 2 players from Achilles injury at the same time, I hate to say it but odds wouldn’t be in Boston favor that both would come back to their 95% old self , 1 player is big if and unknown , 2 players is playing with fire with bare hands

Portland giving Milwaukee a couple of years of cap relief is good business for Portland, increases the chance the bucks continue to build around giannis for a couple more years before the inevitable tear down, this means that when Milwaukee's picks go to Portland the bucks will be earlier in their rebuild cycle and Portland's incoming picks are going to be jucier

Shame that he got traded from Trail Blazers. He should have just stay there his whole career and be like Reggie Miller - no title but whole career on one team. His trade to Bucks was stupid and unnecessary, I never believed he would win a title there.

It's really a great move by Dame. Classy and a cool story, but also a sweet deal.
He goes home and gets to rehab in Portland like he wanted for a full year. Then going into 26-27 he'll be essentially on a 1 year deal with a player option to see what he wants to do.
And Portland has 1 full year to go all in around him.

I've always wondered what a Lillard / Holiday backcourt might look like, though perhaps the odds of seeing it remain slim to none.

Agreed. Like, nothing the Blazers have done this season makes sense, and this is a **** cherry on top of the confusing meat cake.
But at this point, I'm leaning into the absolute confusing randomness. Jrue trade was out of nowhere... Yang was out of nowhere... Dame coming back was WAYYYY **** out of nowhere...
So just laugh and see what happens with this jambalaya of an offseason if you're a Blazer fan?
I genuinely have no idea what this team is. There's next to no rhyme or reason to the roster building. I... THINK... they're trying to just vet load this roster like the Suns, OKC and Spurs did both with CP3... but supercharging it with Jrue and Dame. Dame probably wont play this year, if he does - which I think he will later in the season - the ticket to that game in Portland is going to be INSANE (side note, important to show Blazer games are big ticket prices while the team is for sale...).
This is just a weird **** situation from a billion angles, but I've given up on looking for a clear rebuilding direction from Cronin, so lets just see whatever the **** all this is...

Re: BREAKING: Shams: Damian Lillard Returning to the Blazers on a 3-yr/$42M Deal
I would be so pissed if I were Scoot haha poor guy this means he's guaranteed not to start next season regardless of how he does this season.
I guess by next season a lot of the Blazers young guys will have matured a bit and Lillard can be a leader of that squad.
Clingan/Yang
Avdija
Camara
Sharpe
Lillard/Scoot
I'd look to trade Jerami Grant for a SG if I were them but they can also just draft one next summer. I think when it's your team you expect all the young guys to improve but to those looking from outside the box this is not a roster that will be a guaranteed contender by the time Lillard is back. Really feels like a franchise content to fill seats.
At $15m per season it's hard to say no to a returning franchise legend but it's really not a smart move unless they have permission to re-trade him which would be a PR nightmare. One of the best things that ever happened to my Rockets is Udoka saying no to Harden returning when Harden really wanted to return. We signed FVV over Harden and while FVV is not as good offensively, the team's culture became very clear at that point: professionalism and a commitment to defense over pure talent. That has trickled down to the whole roster and we honestly have one of the best team cultures in the league - which was very noticeable in how we overachieved to win 52 regular season games (proving that professionalism and defense can outperform offensive talent).
Wish the Blazers luck and at least I'm happy for the Lillard fans for whom this is probably an awesome emotional moment. Curious to see how it plays out.

I get your point, but what did the Wolves get back for KG when we went back. What from that trade did the Wolves still have after the deal to hang their hat on?

You’re not even remotely an actual Blazers fan or serious analyst. Just cause you don’t understand it you align it as bad. That’s hilarious actually.

As much as I'm loving the storyline current, I think the Blazers have done Scoot dirty from a development standpoint.
The Blazers should have given Scoot the Cade treatment that the Pistons did. Just **** throw him to the deep end and see what he can do. The Blazers pissed away 2 seasons of development on Scoot... full... ****... stop.
They've now given Scoot the kind of mentorship I've NEVER seen a team give anyone. I almost feel that this might be the most "we're throwing everything at you" roster I've ever seen for a young player. Like... what rookie has had as their mentors... Billups, Holiday and Lillard. If you can't figure it out with that, learn Chinese from Yang, cause that's where you're going.
If by January Scoot isn't showing he's a legit NBA player, he needs to go.
Even Fultz, Fox or Hali didn't get this kind of "we're throwing it ALL at you" treatment.
