Israel plays in Europe in team sports because they kept getting boycotted by Arab countries when they were in the Asian confederation.

There are many West Asian countries that compete in Europe besides Israel as well - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, etc.

Pretty sure Valančiūnas is going to play.

Gemini says it's uncertain.

There is an interview with Lithuanian HC from 3 days ago where he firmly states that Val is one of few players who has a guaranteed spot on the roster, also Val is in Lithuania right now training separately until he iš allowed to join the squad.
If hes healthy, hes playing.

Where did you get this?

I typed "will bogdanovic play in eurobasket" in Gemini AI, this is the answer:
No, Bogdan Bogdanović will not play in EuroBasket 2025. He will be recovering from a knee injury and undergoing surgery, which will prevent him from participating, according to Wikipedia. This is the second consecutive EuroBasket that he will miss due to injury.
But the Lithuanian poster said that the info on big Val was wrong, so I'm not sure anymore...

The AI cites wikipedia as a source, but wikipedia doesn't say anything about an injury or about missing the Euros, at least the English version. Maybe it's confusing Bogdan and Bojan?

OT: A few weeks ago I asked google which foreign football goalkeeper had the most appearances in German Bundesliga and Gemini answered that it's Oliver Baumann, who is German (and doesn't have the most appearances anyway). It just makes stuff up sometimes.

I haven't seen anything like that in the local media.

Valančiūnas will play, camp started two days ago, it is like 10 minutes walking time from were I live and Valančiūnas is here. Thing with Lithuanian team this year, it sucks. Domantas and Matas Buzelis wont play, but it seems like our new appointed coach invited just 16 players, and some obvious long time NT players were not even invited. Brazdeikis had surgery, and might not play, we seriously look like crap, we basically left with Valančiunas, Jokubaitis, Sedekerskis, and most of the rest aren't really even Euroleague caliber players, or borderline at best.

P.S. I forget about this thread. I was looking forward to creating Eurobasket 2025 thread, but since this was bumbed, I will just repurpose this into fuill Eurobaseket thread, I will update opening post soon...

Also, looks like that Gemini thing is not reliable at all, do not trust it at this moment.

Not correct. There are absences at every Olympics. Greece didn't even have like half their players last summer.

Cyprus is not a West Asian nation.

Should be a good one to follow. In between NBA games, Summer League, local leagues
and some minor FIBA tourneys, it’s good news to see some competitive high-level basketball in this “offseason” (basketball has no offseason, don’t kid ourselves)

The Odds:

Is there a schedule already available? Wish north America did a better job broadcasting these high level games during a time there's nothing else on.

Serbia being +200 is a bit crazy. That is almost USA level odds, I get they are super strong, but level of competition is still more flat than that, I would have expected main favorite to start at +400 at least.

Courtside 1891 Max will be showing these, I believe. I have a subscription it's dirt cheap, I think $36 a year.

To be fair Germany at 320 and France at 400 is not that far behind them.

Yes, but that doesn't make much sense, seems like odds do not favor betters at all here. I mean, I know odds never favor betters, but most of the time it seems fair, to me betting Serbia only at +200, when even same bet provider says Germany and France can easily win too (and they can) seems like not worth the risk bet at all. None of these first 3 teams worth it, maybe you could talk me into France plus +400, +400 seems like bare minimum I bet on ''favorite'' in Eurobasket, several teams can still win this in reality.

Is it fair to say realistically about six teams can make a run and win? No one expected Spain to win in 2022.
