I call BS on this.

So we were going to add #9 to a 25 year old for a 35 year old who's cap hit is higher, has longer term, and go HIGHER into the tax?

Come on.

And to add, if true...which I don't believe, it's very likely Webster was behind this as Masai was already on the out's.

But again, I call BS.

Seems the Raptors are determined to become members of the bricklayers association!

One things for sure…while they might not have added a clear star prospect, the FO certainly added fantastic depth to the bench.

Missed the game last night so just quickly spun through it on DVR. Being able to ffw through all the dead ball and ads is a huge timesaver.

Some random thoughts.

Didn't think they played all that well in the first half, aside from small flashes, and even most of the third. But they turned it on in the last few mins of the 3rd into the 4th and flipped the game from there. They just wear teams out, especially when they turn on the full court pressure. By the end, the Warriors were done.

CMB was a force at the rim and they featured him more like he was used at SC in terms of passing and being a focal point on offense. Also was good to see him hit another 3 ball. The defense was as good as always. A total defensive playmaker.

Lawson is way too good for summer league. He was pretty much doing whatever he wanted out there. We've also seen him put up points in the league but that was against pretty bad competition when a lot teams were trying to tank so it'll be interesting to see how he can do against tougher competition and if it can translate in a rotational role. If he can be consistent with that corner 3, he has a good shot of making it.

Battle is an underrated team defender and toally holds his own on that end. Gets the most out of his game despite not having the most athleticism. Simply a very good find by this scouting team. Another guy that could deserve some rotation mins, especially with his shooting ability.

It's more of a superficial comparison, but Martin really reminds me of really young Villanova-era Lowry when he still had some burst in his legs. Almost the exact same stature and aggression on defense. Of course Lowry had way more to his game on the offensive end but it's great to have a bulldog like that on the team again.

Chucky, as expected, was better in an off-ball role. Like what Fred was when he paired with Lowry in the backcourt. Let him shoot, be a secondary playmaker and on defense let him make use of those good hands to dig in on drivers. Had a good stretch in the 4th quarter.

Reliable hands/touch, especially for bigs, are one of the more underrated traits that seperate the players that make it and the ones that don't. Chomche is still developing that part of his game but there is progress and if he gets that down he's good for a good 3/4 easy dump-off baskets a game with his size/frame in the paint. Very crucial when so much of the modern game is dictated what players do off-the-bounce on dribble drives. Yak excels at this and it's made him a lot of money. On the defensive end, GSW couldn't get much in the paint when he really locked in.

Shead has the temperment of someone way beyond his years so it's sometimes easy to forget he's still pretty young too at 22 and I mention this to say that he's still a WIP as a player and it's wise not to lose track of that when he's not perfect at all times. But I thought he played a good controlled game and kept things simple in terms of setting his teammates up and picking the right spots to attack. I feel like sometimes he would play too aggressively and out-of-control and he's often better when setting the right tempo for the situation. But that's what I mean when he's constantly still learning and developing.

Walter didn't really have a standout game and his 3 ball wasn't dropping but the more his body fills out, the more you can see the 3+D potential as an off-ball guard. Has the agility to stay in front of guys and will have the strength to wall them off.

Anyway, keep this up against the Kings and get to that Championship game.

You can understand why he had the best +/- on and off of all draft prospects. When he's on the floor he does so many positive things that impacts the game on both ends.

Honestly. It's why I think he becomes our 6th man pretty quickly into the season.

There are guys that just pop off the screen because they just know how to play, they might not be the most athletic but their IQ just pop off the screen. Jalen Williams and Podz were guys I fell in love in previous Drats for the same reasons and this year was CMB. When a guy is just good at basketball it's best to not overthink it.

100%. Same as why I thought people were underrating Jase Richardson. Undersized? Sure, but hell of an efficient and smart ball player.

I was just about to add Jase to the list, he's another one who just knows how to play. It's a pleasure to watch him play.

Walter’s defence is pretty impressive so far in n the summer league. He needs to refine his ability to finish under the pressure.

Pretty much the same thing with Shead. His game under pressure is very similar to FVV but he shoot much worse.

I was expecting a bit more from Martin before the summer league started. The toughness, maturity and the athleticism is there. Given his age and NCAA run, I was expecting his overall game closer to what Lawson is showing. He can Chucky should killing it in the 905.

It’s so funny how everything people are appreciating about CMB now is what everyone was trying to tell y’all about CMB the whole time. But most people here can’t analyze players beyond whether they can shoot or not so they ignore all the other things that make the player really good and impactful. I’m glad our front office isn’t afraid to draft non shooters when the player can clearly play and has high IQ. You just sometimes have to draft good players with good feel for the game. You don’t need to overthink it

CMB has that controlled, understated athleticism. He doesn't blow you away with his speed or burst, he's very efficient with his movements and he's very coordinated for a guy weighing 240.

yeah efficient in movement is a great way to put it. Nobody is speeding him up in his game, he's running at his pace which is such a good sign.

I was a big CMB fan predraft but the shooting concerns were valid and the fit question to some extent. However we're a young team, it's not time overthink these things, draft good players and figure it out later. Trades can happen afterwards to fix the fit.

You sorta see the difference through Mogbo. Mogbo tries to speed up his game offensively, he rushes a lot, and he doesn't have the natural offensive instincts to react to changing situations, which resulted in poor finishing around the rim. CMB does a better job reacting and adopting to how the defense plays him. He finds the gaps in the defense whether it's through a pass or a drive and doesn't panic regardless. That's the difference a 9th pick and a 31st, even if they share a lot of similarities.
