Based on that article, I don't think Rozier is going to get caught in regards to anything. Regardless, if he were to somehow get charged with something the only thing that would potentially happen is him getting put on some exempt list for the season. His contract wouldn't be voided in that situation given they would require it to go to the legal process which takes forever. His deal will have expired long before anything of that nature gets resolved.

This is correct. We will not be getting any cap relief out of this. Probably can’t trade him either unless assets attached for other team to buyout.

No he has value as an expiring, the problem is that we would need to take on a contract with more years. If we are unwilling to do that then Terry expiring has no value to us other than just getting off the books at the end of the season.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
Decided to have a little fun with chat gpt.
"Based on this season's stats, how many other player picked at his selection or later have averaged more points in the past 10 years?"
ChatGPT answer:
"Tyler Herro was the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft .
Looking at the current 2024–25 scoring leaderboard, Herro is averaging 23.9 PPG, placing him 26th .
Among the players averaging more than 23.9 PPG, here are those drafted 13th or later in the past 10 years:
Devin Booker – 25.6 PPG • Drafted 13th overall in 2015
Cam Thomas – 24.0 PPG • Drafted 27th overall in 2021
Donovan Mitchell – 24.0 PPG • Drafted 13th overall in 2017
That makes a total of three players who were picked at 13th or later and are currently outscoring Herro.
---
In summary:
Herro’s peers — Booker, Thomas, and Mitchell — all drafted 13th or later, are currently averaging more points this season than he is.
Want a deeper dive into any of these players or their career arcs?"
My response:
"Yes, can we do the same but for Bam adebayo?"
ChatGPT answer:
"Here’s the breakdown for Bam Adebayo in the 2024–25 regular season:
Drafted: 14th overall in 2017
Scoring average: 18.1 PPG over 78 games
---
Players drafted 14th or later (in past 10 years) averaging more than 18.1 PPG this season
Based on the 2024–25 top-50 scoring leaders list, here are those players who meet both criteria: drafted 14th or later, and currently better than 18.1 PPG .
Player PPG Approx. Draft Position
Jalen Brunson 26.0 Pick 33 (2018)
Poole, Jordan 20.5 Pick 28 (2019)
Anfernee Simons 19.3 Pick 24 (2018)
Desmond Bane 19.2 Pick 30 (2020)
Nikola Vucevic 18.5 Pick 16 (2011 — slightly older draft)
Julius Randle 18.7 Pick 25 (2014 — outside 10‑year window)
OG Anunoby 18.0 (excluded, under) Pick 23 (2017) — slightly below threshold
Valid within the last 10 years (2015–2025):
Jalen Brunson
Jordan Poole
Anfernee Simons
Desmond Bane
That’s 4 players drafted 14th or later in the past ten drafts who have higher scoring averages than Bam Adebayo in the 2024–25 season.
---
Summary
Bam Adebayo averaged 18.1 PPG, drafted 14th in 2017.
Four players drafted at pick 14 or later in the past 10 years have out‑scored him this season: Jalen Brunson, Jordan Poole, Anfernee Simons, and Desmond Bane."
Obviously this is just looking at scoring. So for Herro only 3 players have scored more picked at his postion or lower, picked in the last decade. For Bam that's only in the last 10 years and none of them ahead of him are the defensive hub for their team, and none of them play the center position.
Tell me that if we don't get a high lottery pick we don't have good chances of picking someone really good before he is off the table.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
Obviously it would be great if the league could do things for us with Rozier like force Charlotte to return our first round pick, and/or let us void his contract, or at least remove it from the salary cap.
I doubt anything that good will happen.
I'd probably be happy if Miami and the league could just agree that this is a special circumstance where it is untenable for the player to be with the team - integrity of the sport will be in question until the matter is fully resolved. As long as he can sit at home and not be with the team, the lack of distraction will be a positive. I assume the players association will say he shouldn't be denied playing and "innocent until proven guilty", but at this point he has earned the right to sit entire games anyway based on his play.
We are not recovering his value, he is not contributing positively, the whole team sinks when he enters, visually it looks like something is up as he throws away possessions.
Keep him home, pay his salary, move him at the deadline if it makes sense where his value is the expiring, and let that team waive him after the deadline.

I agree with you 100%. Feel like they bamboozled us if they did not disclose

Thats a question that Heat fans need Riley to answer on the first day of media week.. some reporter has to press riley or the arisons about this.
Its not a question for spo to answer.. riley or the owners must answer it.

That is something, and that is good, but it is honestly weird. The idea that you could be suspended assumes you are found guilty. If you are guilty and unable to do your job, getting 50% of your pay seems strange.

sports bending over for online gambling sponsorships is far worse than Marlboro in the 80s..
Too many players have been caught illegally gambling, even with their millions.

He’s just coming up with the scenario if it did happen. As of now seems very unlikely to happen. What does need to happen is Rozier needs to be paid to stay home until a trade or buyout happens. No matter what he’s a major distraction. Micky can’t be stubborn here.
