I wouldn't want to have to pay anything to move Jett to bring a vet min in. Just seems pointless for an emergency roster slot. If you can move Jett for free and bring Oladipo or whoever in then fine.

Though with Mose's propensity to default to vets I would really just prefer to keep it how it is at this point and have AB and Jase as the next guards up in case of injury.

I just don’t see Mos suddenly trusting Jett and giving him PT with the team in win-now mode. Another year with no burn and Jett becomes untradeable. Then he’s Okeke or Bamba and walks for nothing.

If we could unload him with a second round pick and add a vet I’d do it in a second. The East is wide open and Jett sitting at the end of the bench doesn’t help us take advantage of that.

Would be worth it to obtain a rotation player than pay Jett bring nothing on and off the court collecting a pricey paycheck

It's just the 14th man though. It only matters in case of injury and in that case some of these guys will still be available if we really really need one. We can just let Jett go next year for free, would rather hang onto the picks we have if it costs to move Jett. If someone wants to try Jett for free? No problem.

I think they should just go in with what they have and if TDS/Penda are awful and/or Isaac gets hurt then maybe you move some pieces around to sign or trade for a backup 3/4.

I wouldn't have a problem moving Jett and signing a real rotation guy like Payton or Melton, but I have a feeling they have an idea of where they are going but are waiting for some stuff to clear up (Kuminga?). Coffey is iffy, I would probably just give TDS and Penda a chance. Not a whole lot out there, no guard I would rather have over giving AB and Jase minutes, and Jase isn't even in the rotation unless injury or AB becomes the backup 3.

Amir Coffey is available every summer.

If someone took Jett into cap space/tpe…then sure, but as 14th man, might as well just see how Jett shakes out with (theoretically) a better offensive scheme and table-setter in Tyus. We’re downto much smaller decisions- which is great.

I dunno... maybe Im just getting older here BUT...

Isn't this offseason thread supposed to be full of pics/vids of our guys working out, getting ready, shooting 3s in an empty gym? Something to whet our appetites for the next season?

Where are the "swole MCW" pics?
Where are the " Fultz shoots 3s without a hitch" vids?
Where is the " JI running laterally" pain-free workouts?

Or whatever equivalent we have now?

Magic boards sleuthing ability really gone down the drain.

i know...

but to think in this day and age with the availability of so many smart phones, how hard is it to find pics of Goga bench-pressing 500lbs, Franz shooting 30 straights 3s without a hitch, AB looking swole, Suggs getting hair transplant....

I mean, its the offseason..

Jase was pretty flawless in the summer league. 56/50/91, 16.5 ppg., 2.5 apg, 1 tov.

It is not that big of a deal as of now in my opinion to TRY to get rid of a players that is on a rookie scale that underperformed in his second year... But first full year playing on the main team just seems like they would have a better hit take on Jett than people who see him in limited minutes in his first season on an offense and team injury issues that were not the most conducive to success for many players. The have a better pulse on the situation.

Personally... No rush to do anything as I feel as though we already have a deeeeeep team that needs to be fleshed out anyway and see how they fit.

For all we know ... A more confident Jett emerges and ... Shooting 38-41% in year 3 and he's everything plus more than Caleb Houstan which people now want to miss and was probably never going to see the court anyways.

Wouldn't be surprised if we go into the season with the 14 player roster at this point. And make trades by the deadline if improvements need to be made using available players and assets.

Can't wait for this season to start! I'm excited!

We’re kind of in that bit of a lull between summer league and FIBA games.

EuroBasket training camps are opening up in the next 1-2 weeks.
Germany have not announced their training camp roster yet (should be any day now).
Goga is playing for Georgia, so you’ll seen him doing that.

Looking up the summer league stats, and the best players for Orlando to consider with ta 2-way deal are: Charles Bassey (PF/C) and Enrique Freeman (PF).

Bassey could get a contract outright from Boston. If not, he would be an interesting prospect for Orlando.

Knew it.
Tristan joins his brother Oscar on Germany’s 16-man EuroBasket training camp roster. That’s awesome. There are some potential big names missing, so Tristan has a strong chance at making the final 12-man team.

And as he previously verbally committed, Franz Wagner is also playing.

A lot of consternation over Maxime Raynaud who ended up averaging 13-6 and shooting .250 from 3PT and .600 from the FT line.

Very interesting.

I am still mostly of the belief that Summer League probably means very little, but still cool to see. Also worth noting Jase's 2 games were against the Kings and Raptors, two of the top 4 teams in summer league and both were top 5 in opponent PPG.

Well: if a rookie does not DOMINATE the summer league, that's a huge red flag for the organisation. In that sense, I value the Sumer league as an assessment of actual value obtained.

For example: Richardson is clearly a value pick, after what we saw in the Summer league. But after the draft, we could not be sure. Now: we are sure!

Also, Penda can clearly be evaluated now as an NBA calibre talent. Again, something was learned.

That said: actually trying to win Summer league games is silly.

It's not.

Franz Wagner's rookie summer league: 21.5 MPG, 8.0 PPG, .448 FG%, .154 3PT%, .667 FT%, 3.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 1.8 TOV.
