I understand and agree with what Olson is saying about winning on margins. I don't think Kuminga is the answer though. I agree about Mark Williams though and I think that trade was a good risk to take. It could pay off, or it could not, but Mark Williams has a ton of potential still. And Maluach is two years away.

He does not shoot the three well
He is a below average rebounder for a power forward

In 84 games as a starter he has averaged 15pts, 5 rbds, 2.5asts, .318% on threes, .576% on true shooting percentage.

Nothing there stands out to me.

Hayes-Davis can certainly put up those type of numbers for $2M per year.

I agree on everything Kuminga. But disagree on the utmost confidence in a dude who has to this point, not been good enough to be even on a bench in the NBA. Now I hope Hayes-Davis, or Fleming or whoever.... does step up and is worthy of the position. But to just anoint anyone on this team good enough, is not good buisness.

Shams:
The Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks all seriously pursued Smart, with positive conversations with personnel from all three teams after he and his agent Jason Glushon received permission to explore options from the Wizards, sources said.

****, we tried to sign him but he preferred the Lakers.

We wanted Marcus Smart, the most similar guy on the market is Gary Payton II.

He is 32 and he has had some physical issues in the last couple of years. But he is a great POA defender, can score from 3 and finish around the rim.

Better than Cam Payne or Melton IMO.

If you can get Payton for the league minimum, that seems smart. Stay below apron levels and st the deadline if you want to add salary - might be better timing . Plus Payton brings toughness like mentioned

Freaking Flakers! Man they get everybody without even trying.....lol. Smart would've given us a 22 million expiring contract to help absorb M Williams extension costs at minimum, and also would have offered a tough, gritty vet leader to help our young players develop and fit our new culture perfectly!

Still good though to see that they at least pursued him

My guess they would have signed him after he was bought out. Suns have nothing the Wizards want except maybe Dunn

The lack of draft assets and varying scale salary contracts, TPEs' etc is really killing us currently. Obviously since we're not contending and most every team in the west is getting stronger, and deeper positionally, we need to be trying to set the stage to utilize Allen and O'neale, etc to acquire more draft assets.

Especially for the 26' draft. Even if that means attaching our last first in the trade (CLE 27' 1st). :dontknow:

You checked stats with or without VanVleet on the court. Those can be different. He played majority PG when Van Vleet was injured. Soo you will need to tweak that statistic. Because when vanvleet wasn't on the count but still healthy, Jalen Green wasn't running point

Also - Houston liked Green. They just had a chance for their little window to get KD for Green and Brooks. Then added a few more key spots to fill for a complete team. They have a chance the next 2 years.

Why dont you as a fan of this team give a player a chance to prove themselves? Why hate on somebody before he even starts. Cheer him on and wish him well and hope he outperforms your expectations. I dont get how you can be a fan, then bash someone before they even play. This is crazy

Houston did not like him. There are reports for years now that they tried to trade him. Then only gave him a non-max 3 year contract after his rookie deal was off. Not a good sign any case, and the statistics so far look like the word on the street is true about his above-neck problems.

I do wish he outperformes his contract, and gets better, etc... I just dont think it will happen. He will likely be a very similar player to what he is now - athletic, scores in bunches, but not much else. Here is hoping that i m wrong and you are right.

Also, dont ever question my fandom. Not you, not anybody else - its been too frequent on this forum lately. Just becouse we are skeptical by the moves the front office makes, it doesnt makes us bad guy or not fans. Fair to point out that the "non-fans" according to you (and some others around) have been mostly right about their criticism in the last howevermany years... a lot more so than the optimists. But it DOES NOT mean that they are not fans - they might just be better educated fans, seeing the results so far.

I am always going to question you and all your little negative minions on this board ! You cry vs support the team. You haven’t even given anyone a chance and even waited for offseason to be complete .

If this is too stressful and u are just negative , why even follow this team. Tell your wife not to go to any more cold play concerts and try to focus on positivity brother ! Life’s short . Why choose negativity

F off you c*nt.
You were an ayton stan as well, I remember. Basically you have zero insight on basketball. Go lick the balls of ishbia you clown. At least your breath will smell the same as your wifes when she gets home from the coldplay concert. b1tch

This is extremely inappropriate. Please don't post things like this.

Lakers picking up Smart really sucks for us. He would have been a nice fit here, but clearly they aren't interested in actual positional fit and are okay with forcing it instead.

Lakers with Ayton are going to be a force. When we had CP3, KD, Booker, and Ayton didnt the suns go like 7-1 or 4-0 or something.

Haha guy is upset over basketball blog. Just a negative person who keeps bringing negativity around here.

Also Ayton had our team to the finals and was the reason we beat the Clippers. Something KD couldn't do.

Also - Ayton is the best Center we have had since Amare played Center. Dude will dominate on the Lakers with Luka feeding him, Lebron, and now that defense is going to be nasty.

So yes, I know ball. Ayton was a stud and when he played he played extremely well. Dude was a beast. What got to him is his head!

All that is highly speculative. Ayton's motor is still in question and just because he's on the Lakers doesn't automatically guarantee his career takes the turn everyone expected it to when he was here.

I mean Shams reported that Phoenix was trying to get him to sign here. You may be right that they are ok with forcing things that are unadvisable but I dont think trying and failing to recruit Smart is the thing that proves it.

Ayton hasn't played with a vocal leader. He has Lebron James who will be down his throat. JJ Reddick, and Luka Doncic. Once he sees how easy it is to win and get an easy 20/10. Hopefully his motivation is there to give consistent energy.

So yes, I know basketball and he can be a damn good Center and one of the best, but his brain and effort lacks anything and he hasn't had a teamate like lebron!

Also, Ayton did great here even with 75% effort. He was a big reason we went to the finals. Blame the leaders and coaching for not being able to motivate their teamate / Player.

I can't believe there are STILL Ayton stans here.

You are on the wrong board
