Re: 2025 Summer League
Just finished watching the game as recorded. Wow…heck of a summer league team! Just loved how they outplayed a very strong Thunder group.
KJ really stepped up in this series. He’s fighting for his place on the team and has been MVP so far. Such a game from Sims! Kon wasn’t as efficient as other games but he played his ass off, worked hard, defended well, good passing, fundamentally strong. Hope he’s OK from the head smack. Everybody hustles, plays fast, shifts quick on D, rotates, really good spacing, moving the ball. Even Bauh played better tonight. Now, let’s talk about our center position.
Kalkbrenner is trying hard, but Jeffie and Charles, HE IS NOT READY TO PLAY NBA BALL. Ryan needs a full year of Swarm to see what he can learn, and ultimately become. I really LOVE what PJ Hall brings to this SL roster. He’s much better than Kalk right now. If we can’t engineer a trade for a quality starting center, better sign PJ to a 2-way and cut Baugh. Hall would need to be there opening night cause Kalk isn’t ready for deep bench much less direct backup.
Onward to the championship game. Doubtful Kon plays if there is even a hint of minor concern.

Re: 2025 Summer League
The Grizz just signed Hall to a 2 way! We could've used his energy down low.

Assuming we couldn’t sign Hall because we signed Drew **** Peterson

It's not Peterson, it's BaughLiver_Pooty wrote:Assuming we couldn’t sign Hall because we signed Drew **** Peterson
No need for 2 pgs on 2way
Assume they didn't want to dump Baugh mid summer league and thought they had time. Or maybe they never had hall under consideration
Not mad at Paterson. He looks like he can play a role. A better version of poku..
But damn, really liked Hall.
Kj, Peterson, hall should have been the 3

Re: 2025 Summer League
They really like slapping us in the face with that center position. It's a guy who spent a huge amount of time in the Gleague last season, a vet min contract no one wanted, and a second round pick. Now either they're still working on something or they're negligent about our needs at the position.
Seems like the depth was there for PG but not for center.
I can't make sense of it and when I try I just get frustrated. When others try, it just sounds to me like they're making excuses.

Re: 2025 Summer League
Hall confirmed out tonight.
If kon doesn't play its gonna be
Kj, Baugh, Sims, walker and kalk with serious scrubs off the bench.

Yeah that sucks. Unless they have a deal ready to drop, this is another F U to fans clamoring, along with major media observers, for the team to get a real quality center here. It’s becoming a running joke. Why wouldn’t they offer PJ a 2-way contract and let Baugh go? Ridiculous!!! Kalk is absolutely NOT ready. He needs a full year in Greensboro, and may never be good enough to be serviceable at big league level. His rebounding rate in SL is poor. Decent defender, and blocks some shots, but he’s not sealing people out on the boards, gets frustrated on double teams, can’t extend out to defend. Did y’all see how OKC went at him directly in the second half? Hornets can’t depend on him this season in any capacity, and unknown if they ever can.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

If the reason they didn’t try to sign Hall was to keep Baugh for the final SL game, that’s amateur hour crap. It’s just summer league, and this is a business. If you wanted PJ get it done, make the decision.
NOW, they’d better be making a trade for a starting center, or I will be enormously pissed. I know that hurts Jeffie’s feelings

Championship game tonight…no PJ Hall…probably no Kon, Liam, Tiddy. No real bigs other than Kalk….BUT WE STILL HAVE BAUGH!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

i would have promised him, and if he said Memphis gave him an offer, I would have sat down Baugh apologised but gave him the bad news.
let Baugh know he is welcome to play the final though.

Everyone excited about our guard play, yet ignoring we also have the worst front court in the entire league.
Until we upgrade the frontcourt this team isn't going to be much of a threat.

for the dinosaurs still on cable, like me
beware
game is immediately following a live mlb baseball game
chances of start of broadcast getting bumped to another channel likely
sucks for setting a dvr

adding Hall would be a solid tank move though, young 2 way centre who might be something solid but won't cause mass wins

Re: 2025 Summer League
we had same thoughts last summer after mo gueye and jake stephens played well. we waited and signed moose. jpete has been good at finding the underrated guys on fringes, whether its for summer league or swarm. hopefully someone decent shakes loose. otherwise baugh will be good for swarm, along with simpson. pgs keep things organized for sion, liam, tiddy, kalk - all of whom might see some time with swarm.

Re: 2025 Summer League
If they would just move Green, Liam would be in the rotation.
So they're tanking the center position and stunting the growth of a prospect by sticking strong with Green instead of using him as matching salary.
And he has no future with the team.
I'm starting to worry Jeff refuses to accept that.

Yeah it's weird they drafted Kon yet gave him competition for minutes with the Sexton trade and bringing back Mann + Spencer D.
I definitely think McNeeley will backup Miller at the 3 once we clear up some of these unnecessary guards on the roster.
Melo/Mann
Sexton/Kon
Miller/McNeeley
I hope this will be our rotation by the end of the season.
