The CPU not getting speed boosts and the in game adjustements they've made in early release just makes for a more fun and realistic experience. Blocking at times can be not good, and at times jump balls seem OP but make more sense when looking at height and ratings, some of the times.
I'm playing default heisman settings, penalties are a bit low but Im hesitant to change anything because it oftens affects something else as well. I did increase transfers from 20 max to 30 max, transfers are a bit crazy expecially at small schools. May need to tweak some settings here but have not yet simply becaue the portal IRL is crazy and unpredictable.
I'm enjoying it so far, hope future patches dont break it. Madden always falls victim of catering to casuals and MUT that it ruins solo players franchise experience. I've disliked Madden for years.
If your on the fence spend the $5 for a month of EA play to get a 10 hour trial. Within that same month you'll also get 10 hours early access to Madden to check that out.
I'm still tweaking with the gameplay sliders here and there, but yeah, definitely enjoying it so far. The soundtrack is also one of my favorite sports soundtracks ever and the presentation has been given a nice face-lift between the updated team runouts, commentary mentioning that I'm returning home to my former school, better transitions for instant replays and stuff, etc.
Making the transfer portal actually feel significant is such a huge improvement from last year. If I have a complaint about that aspect so far, it would probably be that recruiting might be too easy? Granted that my team had back to back great seasons (like 10-3 and then 11-2 or something including a win in the CFP), but I was able to get a top 25 recruiting class in my 2nd season at Buffalo and was able to pull in two safety transfers after my first year that ended up being over 90 overall after offseason training. I seem poised to land a 5 star LB in my first season at Maryland too, and I was not in his top 10 to start the season (should mention though that he's in a level 5 pipeline so that probably helps a lot). Should also mention I have zero invested in the Recruiter archetype so this is all working off the default 50 hour max stuff.
I'm playing as Delaware, so nobody wants to play for me. It does seem pipelines do play a larger role as do player wants. If a player has minimal interest you can climb his list it seems, at least until other teams finall do offer or show interest. At least at Delaware, you quickly fall of their board when that happens. I chose motivator, so I have 0 invested in recruiting either. I ramped transfer max to 30, as it's the wild west anyway. So I'm probably only recruiting for guys to leave, and am likely to hit the portal myself to fill gaps (which will be many).
