AJ isn't a PG, he's a 2 and needs to work on his 3 point shot and secondary playmaking to stick in this league. Putting him at the 1 was a teachable moment but also setting him up to fail.

Reyne Smith, a 6-2, 190-pound Shooting Guard from Australia, was signed to play in the Knicks game.

They should really stop Summer League after 3 games or so. Nobody cares after that.

Who's Clayton?

Clayton could be Keshon Gilbert, the PG today who finished well around the basket and ran the floor well.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I had a brain fart. I was thinking Jamir Watkins.

Alex Sarr led the SL in blocks

Jamir Watkins and Kyshawn George tied for the lead in steals.

Kon Kneuppel won SL MVP. Nicely done for all the hate he was getting.

There was a stretch where Kon was consistently being mocked to us, that created some anxiety.

Stolen from 76ciology on the GB:

Image

Our guys look terrific!

Factoring volume and efficiency, Tre Johnson was the second best scorer in the draft class (second to Jase Richardson in low minutes). Among the lotto picks, Tre was second-best in points, best in TS%, second-best in Game Score, and third-best in RAPM.

Will Riley led everyone in TS%.

And Jamir Watkins had the 4th highest Game Score.

Other guys that stand out include:
Liam McNeeley with Charlotte
Rasheer Fleming with Phoenix
Brooks Barnhizer with OKC
Javon Small with Memphis

Maluach struggled. As did Traore, Bryant and all of Brooklyn's guys.

None of this means anything though. lol

I wonder if at some point in time in the next 2 years, a straight up Tre Johnson for Dylan Harper trade might make sense for both teams.

I don't remember teams shutting down their summer league rookies after 3 games before this year. Did I just not notice or is this a new phenomenon?

I seem to recall it happening often. Maybe not always with rookies, but second-year players almost always get shut down after 2 games.

I remember it as an exception rather than the rule before this year. There were a few summer league guys with injury issues or the like, but otherwise the idea was to have the young guys play together in games as much as possible to learn how to work in game situations. This year, they pulled basically everyone likely to be on the active roster and only kept the Go-Go candidate players after 3 games or less.

How many summer league games did Sarr, Carrington, and George play last year as a comp? Looking it up . . . Carrington played all 5, Sarr played 4, George played 5, so last year, at least, they didn't shut the rooks down early.

Derik Queen is now out for 3-months minimum after getting injured in SL, I can see why teams are exceedingly cautious
