We probably did it, but I still like KCP, Clarke, Konchar for Lauri in a couple weeks..

Say 2026 Memphis and 2030 Orlando? Memphis keeps the Phoenix first, trusts in Jerome/Coward/kids at the two?

Probably better with LAL or some third team getting KCP. But still..

I know GSW is the heavy favorites.. But I really like LAL jumping in after paying a couple seconds to dump Maxi and opening the room for Smart/Horford..

Another not so great idea is Atl giving him their BAE if he wanted. Don’t think he left on a bad note, that Atl team just didn’t work out and didn’t trade their vets. But he’d be a good mentor for OO/Asa. And him and KP play really well together in small minutes (going off two seasons ago eye test..)

They become really deep when everyone is healthy but Al plays more all the games KP misses. Would take them right below the tax with 14 players?

ya if Horford wants to win, he should angle his way to LA. Denver/Houston/Clips dont have a role for him and the Lakers are the next best team, and he very well could be in their closing lineups

Shouldn't he go east and be the backup big in Cleveland or New York? He could play with any of Mobley/Allen/KAT/Robinson in a 2-big lineup. (Yes, Cleveland got Nance and NYK got Yabusele for that role, but you can still play big when your bigs can shoot.)

Lakers have signed Koloko and Chris Manon to fill roster, not sure who Manon is (two way contract).
My Go Team
Magic, Jordan, Pippen, Duncan, Shaq

My Counter
Stockton, Kobe, Bird, Rodman, Dirk

Today's Team
Luka, SGA, Tatum, Giannis, Wemby

If he wants to win there are a lot of better choices than LAL.

I think if Memphis decided they can't afford Ja-Bane-JJJ they won't have interest in Lauri.

Lauri is a bit more expensive, but the team is easily affordable under the tax through 2028 imo. Even paying Wells a year early should be fine, since Ja will be in the last year of his rookie max at that point. After 2027-2028 season, they probably need to look at their roster if they are keeping the roster together. But that’s three full years of JJJ/Lauri/Ja with no tax issues and great depth. And if the kids are worth paying, you are probably happy to dump an expiring Lauri.

Going a bit further, I think Memphis can spend a bit more on their third option now that they’ve added Coward and a very likely lottery pick in 2026 to their books the next few seasons. But I really think Coward is going to be a good rotation piece quickly.

Sure, but he also needs some kind of decent role. Knicks would be an option too, but he probably cant really play beside Towns and they already have Mitch Rob. He'll have a big role on LA that he wouldnt on the better teams in the league (Rox,Clips,Nuggets,Knicks,OKC). Cleveland was a good idea, but thats the only better team that i think can offer Horford a real role on a contender

What about GS?

He would start for them I think

We can offer him a backup role behind Ayton, but at certain times can go big with both depending on the matchup

I would love having that option

Consolidate non playoff/fringe playoff rotation guys like Gabe, DK, Maxi for less guys to open up space

If they are a lottery team in 2026 that makes even less sense to me. I'm also not enamored with the Lauri-JJJ fit? Unless you play Lauri at the 3 and get a center who also spaces the floor. Lauri is a plus rebounder at power forward, but not enough to offset JJJ. TBH, I think Kessler, of all our players, would make the most sense for Memphis.

Both of those are crazy. Wesley must have a team interested in him that he was willing to give back money

I think he means suns pick.
Well, Memphis can very well tank this season and as phoenix suns will suck, they can really get two top 5 picks with some lottery luck. That would be amazing for them.

The 2026 lottery first is the “worst of Phx/Washington” pick they own, not their own. I would guess a team with Memphis’ talent and depth would be fighting LAL/Minn for the 5th-6th seed and can beat anyone if Ja/Lauri return to form.

And I think you can go with Edey/JJJ/Lauri starting and switch to the smaller lineup when it’s worth it. Edey isn’t known for it, but he shot well enough and supposedly is working on it (though we’ve seen plenty of bigs work on their range in past to no avail)

The issue I had with my own idea was Aldama. While I guess you could run Aldama/JJJ/Lauri, pretty much making Lauri a full time 3? Just don’t think those lineups work. Memphis would be better off with an actual wing second option.. like Bane.. and keeping Aldama..

But still like the idea enough to do it and look at getting value for Aldama later on if lineups with Lauri and him aren’t working out.
