Just say no to Simmons.

The guy doesn't even like basketball and will be a bad influence on the youth on this team.

Get us Brogdon! Dude was a 6th man of the year winner! He will take that role here and help get our youth better. Sign him up and call it an offseason

So we need a point guard. Who would you choose from the following three choices?

Player #1
24/25 - 6.4 assists/2.2 To's (2.9 ratio), career 5.1/2.4 (2.1 ratio)

Player # 2
24/25 - 7.1 assists/2.9 To's (2.4 ratio), career 5.2/3.0 (1.7 ratio)

Player # 3
24/25 - 7.5 assists/3.7 To's (2.0 ratio), career 8.2/3.9 (2.1 ratio)

Name these players.
How important is a true point guard linked to winning?

Probably played #3 options cause I’m a sucker when it comes to To’s. :)

Yeah we all knew this already but here you go

The Suns have interest in Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, league sources confirmed to The Republic, but are unlikely to land him because they lack the draft capital and assets to deliver in what would be a sign-and-trade for the Warriors.

Who owns the Suns pick this year? Whoever it is, they are certainly “good” with the Suns current roster.

Jul. 21, 2025, 7:37 AM MST
The Phoenix Suns aren’t ruling out another move this summer, but are good with their current roster, league sources informed The Arizona Republic. Trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets before the 2025 NBA Draft and buying out Bradley Beal last week signaled the Suns were going in a different direction.

To me, that ship has sailed over the pick. I get - it could be terrible to see a team get a top 5 pick. But at the same time, don't do something stupid to win 35 games instead of 30 games - like trade EVEN more picks.

In looking at our roster Simmons will be better as a short-term small ball 5 rather than a 4. You can't have two front court spots that don't shoot. One is okay, but two is no good.

Green
Booker
Brooks
Dunn
Simmons

That would be very tough to deal with in terms of speed and defense. If personality issues should be settled between simmons and booker and everyone was okay with their roles that would be a great lineup.

We are down to crumbs left to trade. I literally have no idea how the Suns can trade a single pick right now. They should be looking to collect them right now. Allen, O’Neal, Richards are keys to getting something back. I’d say wait for mid season. That’s when teams get desperate. Allen is priority #1 to go. He offers nothing to this team. At least O’Neal does a lot of stuff and is all over the court. Richard WILL be in huge demand at midseason. Suns play their cards right, they might snag a first or two.

100% agree. Just wait until a team is desperate at the deadline

As for the TPMLE -- I think it can be used to take on salary now - kind of like a TPE. So maybe at the deadline, some team wants to dump 5m and the Suns can get a draft pick for it

I would for sure leave one spot open on the roster. If you sign a PG - fine Cam Payne for cheap. Keep the TPMLE as I am not sure even Brogdon is worth it at this point unless you are signing him to trade him. But keep the flexibility and hopefully at the deadline - a team will be willing to take on Royce or Allen.

When I was watching Summer League I thought a couple of times that Oso is siilar to current Ben Simmons.

Oso is our guy and obviously is much younger and healthier, so why not give him the opportunity to play some minutes coming of the bench as a secondary ball handler initiator/creator?

If we can get him for the minimum, I don't see a problem with it other than Booker and Simmons are eskimo bros, and wonder if they are mad at each other cause they dated the same women.

Never been a Simmons fan but I think we could use a guy with his size and skillset. Kind of could play the 1 and the 4, which are two areas where we're weak. I'm 100% for trying to S&T Giddey and I think that's probably unlikely but Simmons is a poor man's Giddey at this stage. The big strikes on Simmons compared to Giddey is the lack of a 3PT shot and health but he's far better suited to play the 4 than Giddey and I think he's a better playmaker. Giddey is probably unavailable and will be expensive whereas Simmons is probably a vet min or at most, an MLE candidate.

Sign Brogdon! Call it an offseason. He was 6th man of the year, and we need a leader on that bench!

Trade -

Oso & Allen to the Magic - Throw whatever picks we need
Black & Isaac to the Suns.

Give them a shooter in Allen and back up big to fill Isaacs role in Oso on a better contract.

Suns

Booker / Black / Gillespie
Green / Black / Brea
Brooks / Dunn or Nigel Hayes-Davis
Isaac / O'Neale / Fleming
Williams / Richards / Maluach

thats a deep team, and would be a blast to watch

Magic

Suggs / Tyus Jones
Desmond Bane / Grayson Allen
Franz Wagner / Tristan Da Silva
Banchero / Oso or Moritz Wagner
Carter Jr / Goga

Yikers. Muluach getting hammered. Even being called a draft day disaster.

I was in favor of the pick but I hadn't seem much of his play but the FO had to have watched tape of him and noticed the same concerns and picked him anyway.

With the Mark Williams trade that was in the works we could have picked a more NBA ready player instead or tried to trade down from #10 in favor of picking up extra picks.
