Carter has a massive wingspan (it’s kinda freaky looking when you see him in person), has great athletic numbers and a lot of his defensive efforts aren’t box score friendly. His rebounding will be absolutely elite for his role just like Hart. There’s a reason he went lottery last year…and people thought he slipped to 13.

Hart last season averaged 13.6/9.6/5.9 (57.9 eFG%, .611 TS%). If Carter is going to become "just like Hart"--suddenly at 23--then why trade him?

I personally don't want to risk a trade for a "shooting guard" with an injured shoulder who shot 37.0 FG%, 29.5 FG3%, 59.1 FT%, .441 eFG%, .471 TS% last season.

I didn’t say what you have in quotes.

Really?
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

I have and continue to talk about archetype. And he will be elite in his role.

Kings do it for adjust an out of balance roster. Kolek has a chance at playing.

Knicks do it for better talent that fits their style. Carter will make a guy like Hart moveable eventually.

How is a 6'2 PG that can't shoot going to make Hart moveable? If you call him a SG it makes is worse. Right now Kolek & Dadiet look like
better talent.
Follow the science not some internet physician & get your shots.

He has a massive wingspan and incredible athletic numbers. Hart is a couple inches taller but Carter plays as big.

Problem is we already have a 6’2” SG with a massive wingspan, who is fantastic defensively…Deuce McBride. And ours can already shoot.

Still doesn’t make Hart expendable…even if there was a good case for starting deuce over Hart.

Brunson: So what are you paid to do?
Hart: Run around like an idiot during the game and f*** s*** up!

McBride is solid. But a PG only. Carter is more versatile.

McBride primarily played the 2 next to Brunson or Payne this season. His wingspan, athleticism, strength, & toughness allow him to check even some 3s.

Yeah well…Carter is bigger and more athletic. Kinda like a Hart archetype. :D

So about that…

Carter - 6’2.5” w/o shoes, 6’8.75” wingspan
McBride - 6’1” w/o shoes; 6’8.75” wingspan
Hart - 6’4” w/o shoes; 6’8.25” wingspan

Are you sure you’re digging in and won’t admit that Carter is just as much a Deuce McBride archetype…only without the shooting…as he is a Hart without the rebounding?

Carter isn’t a one. He can defend the one.

I see three guys on a spectrum of a similar archetype.

If we’re very loose then yes all three are perimeter guys who bring things other than just buckets…but if we dig the least bit deeper McBride and Hart are wildly different supporting pieces.

Hart guards 2-4, excels on the glass and is a one man fast break. McBride is a better defender but only guards 1-3…and Hart does better against the biggest 4s than deuce does the biggest 3s…he’s not much of a factor on the glass & isn’t the best around the rim (whether in the halfcourt or transition), but has turned himself into an excellent shooter.
