Re: Hornets hire Jeff Peterson as Head of Basketball Ops.
I get Peterson has been saying nice things about Clifford, it sounds like they have a pretty good relationship. But what should our actual concern be that he brings Cliff back? I mean, he was always supposed to be a stop gap coach right? We need a coach with a more modern approach and one who understands current offense. Cliff wants to run an iso heavy 5 out offense which we have never had the personnel for nor is that a recipe to win games. I am just hoping they mutually part ways at the end of the season at this point.

We are not bringing Clifford back. They are saying nice things because Clifford is a good person. New staff always hire their guy. They want to change the culture and bring their own people in.

Bringing Clifford back would honestly be our nightmare.

I was willing to let Cliff have one more chance to impress me after that deadline but says it all that the team looked better than it ever had before having time to sit and practice his system.

It's the over the top praise. It's like Clifford is his long lost dad that came back into his life or something.
I don't think we'll bring him back. But I wouldn't be surprised either.

This, I don't it's a coincidence that the offense tanked once the new players absorbed Clifford's offense.
It's not as if teams didn't have scouting reports on Grant, Mann, Micic, Bertans, and Curry.

Re: Hornets hire Jeff Peterson as Head of Basketball Ops.
One thing I like is that he acquires draft picks with trades. But sad thing is I think he said during our 2 2nd rounders that he wasn't worried about the players he was going to draft getting drafted cause he felt they would be on the board. I guess he knew deep down don't nobody but me want these damn selections but me

If we're going to ignore the like 7 1st round picks that the FO accumulated, then so be it, but it's pretty disingenuous to act like they've sat around and not done anything. Not exactly controversial to argue that this is by far the most active FO that we've ever had.

THIS front office has accumulated awful 1sts with zero upside. Whoever ran the 2024 deadline before Peterson took over did the actual nice work here, snagging the Dallas and Miami picks. I believe it was our owners themselves if I remember the rumors correctly, and they cooked.
Peterson's series of moves involving Nurkic are nice, turning nothing into Sexton and a ~23rd pick next year is cool. I'll give him that one. But I'm not sure why we're celebrating the acquisitions of two "worst of a bunch of teams" picks when it took our starting center to get one of them 4 years from now.
investigate Adam Silver

Re: Kalk-Blocked: The Ryan Kalkbrenner Thread
There has to be a Jeff Peterson thread. Surely one exists. It would be so popular!
When Ryan Kalkbrenner signs into RGM to check out his thread for a confidence boost or to find out things to work on, he's going to be so disappointed that it's just the same complaints as every other thread. He might even miss the "wacky waving Inflatable arm flailers" gym motivation it's so oversaturated with complaints on his boss after his team's stupid undefeated summer league championship run.

A Jeff Peterson honeypot is long past due.

Mitch was trying to get Green here a month before Jeff was announced as his replacement, so wouldn't that make chasing Green Mitch's idea? If you're saying this is Mitch taking orders from incoming ownership, then you'd also have to credit them for bringing in Tre and Grant.

Re: Hornets hire Jeff Peterson as Head of Basketball Ops.
Thanks Walt. This is where we need to fry Jeffie until he proves he’s getting us a quality starting center for this upcoming season.
I give them all credit for the draft, the carryover players from the Swarm, KJ’s role and leadership, even some evidence of improvement from Tiddy. I lance them for not signing PJ Hall and dumping Baugh. That was stupid, even if they have another move they “think” they can make later in the offseason (maybe after Sept 6th when Pat can be traded). Hall would have been a great 2-way to have available in the event of injuries, and can play 4 & 5. Baugh is going nowhere on the big club, stacked behind a pile of better guards.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Hornets hire Jeff Peterson as Head of Basketball Ops.
I know you have admitted to not being able to catch many of the games last season (and not many would blame you for missing them even if you could have), but I think you're really underestimating Moussa Diabate. No one is going to bully him around. It's like arguing Ben Wallace was undersized and not a capable starting center. I wrote other thoughts about the center issue in the offseason thread, so I won't repeat it all here, but Moose is an improvement from a team perspective over Mark Williams. Maybe (probably) Mason is a downgrade from Nurkic, so I guess that could be a criticism, but some version of Grant Williams should be around and then you add Kaulkbrenner so there are a couple of wildcards at the pivot.
"Jeffie" is so unnecessarily demeaning, I really wish you would reconsider how that looks and opt for almost any other name instead as you "fry" the guy for not having an acceptable to you center on the roster at this point, but I do my best to look past it.

I'm not taking your smelly ass bait, Wilson because you're not in the slightest interested in honest appraisals. You're just playing games and it's boring the hell out of me. Good day.

Moussa is kind of like Ben Wallace the same way Gerald Henderson was kind of like Kobe

Re: Hornets hire Jeff Peterson as Head of Basketball Ops.
I'm not suggesting or suspecting Moussa will be a multiple time dpoy, just made an allusion to the first "undersized" starting center that crossed my mind to make my point about getting pushed around. I think that's pretty clear from what I wrote, but if it's confusing, I can try another way.
