Hadn't thought this looked good or interesting, but this was a better trailer.

Interesting take on Predator for this one. Could be fun following him around as a protagonist type character.

Dan Trachtenberg's Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers were both excellent, so I'll give this a shot.

Holy crap, Malcolm-Jamal Warner died at 54 of accidental drowning. In recent years he had been very good on The Resident.

RIP.

Hard to say. Rosenbaum obviously got to flesh out the character to the Nth degree given that it was a fairly long-running show. Though Rosenbaum's Lex was perpetually Anakin Skywalker for a while, trying to be a good guy but conflicted and showing his father's influence. But Hoult did a really good job in the film portraying someone who is brilliant but a narcissist and angry. My only issue with the film was that it was too short to be able to flesh out some of the key characters more (and the Gunn over-reliance on humor). I get why Gunn decided to go the "hit the ground running" route with the story so as to introduce a new universe alongside a Superman story.

What may be a bit strange is when they introduce characters like Hal Jordan and Bruce Wayne as being older. The DCU project I'm most interested in is the Lanterns MAX show, actually. Space-cop crime drama and murder mystery sounds fun. I'm not so keen on incorporating a Batman/Bruce Wayne who's older and also finds out about the whole Damian Wayne thing with Talia Al Ghul (if they even go that route).

Ron Swanson wrote:Sounds like Superman is more of the "good" James Gunn rather than the annoying "substitutes an obnoxious amount of needle drops in place of actual storytelling" version. Season 1 of Pecemaker was good up until the very end, so I'm excited for Season 2. Cena's such an underrated comedic actor. Creature Commandos was an absolute mess that felt like it was written by a horny 13-year old.

I would say somewhere in-between. He sort of can't help himself with some of the unnecessary quips and humor, and it felt odd in certain moments. It's like a continuation of the Joss Whedon formula where they can't let a scene rest on its own without a quip. The film was well-acted and well-cast, sometimes you have to let him do their thing. Not nearly as atrocious and immature as Taika Waititi though. And I'll agree about Creature Commandos. It was an amusing romp but pretty dumb.

Anyone got any good non IP film recommendations? That new horror movie with Brie/Franco looked interesting. Astor is kind of a mixed bag and I'm kind of sick of Pedro Pascal so not sure if I want to give Eddington a shot.

My favorites from this year are probably (in order) 28 Years Later, Black Bag, Sinners, Companion, and Mickey 17.

Black Bag was very good. I also enjoyed Sleeping Dogs with Russell Crowe but I'm admittedly a big fan of his. Reptile was good as well.

I haven't seen Black Bag yet, but when I saw Soderbergh spy thriller 93 minutes I was sold.

Would strongly recommend 28 Years Later and Sinners. Those are two of my favorite films of the last few years for sure.

Just rounding up the last month for me. I really liked where Bear S4 landed, 28 Years Later was awesome, F1 was a lot of fun, The Summer Hikaru Died is the best anime I've seen this year, I'm currently watching The Knick, and I'm thinking about Waterworld this morning.

New season of South Park started off with an epic episode. I am still laughing. Trey and Matt have huge marbles.

Finally got around to watching the new Final Destination movie. Pretty fun entry in the series.

The Tony Todd monologue was beautiful. Something you’d never expect out of a movie like that. RIP to an absolute king.

Watched the first half of Sinners and thought it was pretty boring. I'll finish it today or tomorrow. Given all the hype I've seen I'm assuming the second half is better.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Watching Dear Child (German limited series) on Netflix and it’s pretty damn good.

Second half was good. I don't like the horror genre for the most part but this was pretty well done. I jumped a few times, something I never do with horror films.

I wish they would’ve used two different actors for Smoke and Stack, there was just too much uncanny valley with MBJ playing both of them.
