Okogie on the min is a nice signing. I understand why the Horford signing is held up due to JK but why are the vet mins? Shouldn't we be able to sign vet mins and still not be hamstrung by the JK offer? it's only when we use the NTMLE that we get hard-capped at the 2nd apron, right?

Just saw this thread. When does free agency start this year?
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Just wait until Horford signs with another team or announces his retirement ...

Horford and Melton sounds like a lock
Need Kuminga situation to be resolved.
Brogdon, Seth, Simmons sounds like possibilities depending on how that pans out.

I don't understand (the bolded above.) Are they really planning on paying Horford more than the TPMLE, and hard-capping themselves at the 1st Apron? If not, they could sign him to that, sign vet mins, and still deal with JK. As long as they don't hard cap themselves in an S&T by taking back more than they send out, I don't see a problem. If Horford is willing to sign for the TPMLE, why wait. If he insists on more than that, then the Warriors are out of the running anyway.

The only reason I could come up with is not wanting to lock salary in and give another team the chance to submit a RFA offer sheet that the Warriors can't match because of the 2nd apron.
Seems like it is a long-shot now that a team could make cap space, but I suspect the Warriors would need to account for the possibility. It is also possible the Warriors know of a team who is capable of positioning themselves without too much effort to make a sizable, front-loaded RFA offer sheet.
That's probably part of Kuminga's strategy. Make the Warriors fill our their 14-man roster, required by opening night, in order to lock in salary, to include the TPMLE for Horford. If Kuminga is unsigned by opening night, I question whether the Warriors will sign Horford.

Funny that this thread is 30 pages, when nothing has happened except Looney leaving.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

The Warriors did tender the qualifying offer to Kuminga on 6/28, the day after this thread was started. So, there's that.
Yeah, I know, grasping at straws ...

You’re right; I shouldn’t be so cynical.

Re: Warriors Free Agency 2025
Ricky Council IV anyone? I remember checking him out in the 2023 draft. He went undrafted and ended up on the 76ers but was just waived after a pretty good summer league.
He might too athletic to play for the Warriors tho...

For the vet minimum? Might be too expensive.

Under 15 MPG in 105 games over 2 seasons. Has shot 40.2/27.3/78.6 on low volume. 25.8% from 3 on 2.9 attempts last season. Probably why he got cut. Unless he can shoot a lot better, he can’t stay on the court.
GP2 has averaged 55.7/34.0/62.5 for his much longer career than Council and averaged about The same number of rebounds despite being smaller.

Yeah, but it's summer and I'm bored.
How much more does he suck than the Warriors other potential 2-way prospects. He has some length and bounce...not a lot of that on the roster.
Decent POA defender that can't shoot.
