Exactly. Varsho may have swing and miss in his game, but he does one thing well that the Jays absolutely need more of, especially with Guerrero being content with having Luis Arraez's offensive profile rather than trying to hit for power. The Jays need more home runs. Santander's injury really hurts. Hopefully they add a power bat at the deadline.

His arm is definitely fresher if he doesn’t pitch yesterday

Had to use our 3 best RPs to do a job that Gausman could very well have done on his own, though. Can't let a SP go 4 times through the order under any circumstances.

He's also either their 1st or 2nd most valuable player on a rate basis with Kirk. Massive addition to get back on the team, let's hope it's on Thursday.

4 appearances in 5 days when in the first 3 appearances the Jays were leading by 4, 3, and 3 respectively. Atkins needs to add like 2 closers at the deadline to hopefully make the usage a bit more logical. The Jays aren’t blowing teams out so they’ll need more leverage guys so Schneider doesn’t work the same 3 relievers into the ground.

Probably worth pointing out that Vlad's OBP is now 4th in baseball at .391 and that he's on pace for the 3rd best year offensively of his career.

The issue may not be with him, it may be with the expectations that have come with the ridiculous unjustifiable contract they gave him. This is pretty much the player he's been (almost) the entire time, just with a little less power and a few more walks.

Every time I listen to Jays guys on the Fan590 talking about the deadline, pitchers are mentioned. Power hitters don't seem to be available?

Yeah I've kinda conceded this year + 2022 are probably the baseline for what hes gonna be for most of this contract. Fine player top 25ish bat but man is it gonna get ugly if we're already lowering his expectations and the contract hasn't even ****in started lmao

Will end up the most hated player in Toronto sports history regardless of what he does in his career unless one of his teams wins a championship and it won’t be his fault.

The Jays knew he wasn’t an elite player when he signed the deal and still did it anyway.

No getaway game again today. Same thing happened in the last Yankees series. All 7 o’clock starts.

Do the Yankees always have to be in prime time?

Maybe the Yankees realize people have jobs.

Vlad's top comp through his age is Eddie Murray. Jays will be hoping for that rather than #3 (Prince Fielder).

100 games in, Vladdy doesn’t have 50 RBI’s. He is the cornerstone of the franchise and the team needs production. Vladdy, please wake up!
