Anyone else paying attention to this whole scandal at the NFLPA? I had a road trip this weekend so I listened to the two-part Pablo Torre Finds Out episodes. My biggest takeaway from all of this wasn't simply that Lloyd Howell was a terrible hire, but that JC Tretter is a **** idiot - like mindblowingly stupid - and it's pathetic that he's weaseled his way to the top of the union.

Couldn't believe he was the reported frontrunner for the interim ED position.

Those are awful. Though, I think most of these alternate designs are terrible.

It was reported earlier this year that ESPN was buying Red Zone but now it appears as if they are also buying NFL Network, including the 7 regular season games NFLN currently airs. If it happens it won't go into affect it sometime next year. This sucks. I hate ESPN. And I know they'll **** up Red Zone, my favorite channel.

So that's why the rich Eisen show is going to be in espn now. Wonder how much the cost of espn goes up or if they keep it separate.

Good question. I'm assuming the NFLN will stay separate. But ESPN will crap it up. They are starting their own streaming service (estimated to be $30 a month) so I'm not sure how NFLN fits in.

All I really care about is Red Zone.

There's such a massive void of quality sports coverage that any of these streaming giants should in theory be able to fill if they put even the slightest ounce of effort and resources into, so it's crazy to me how ESPN is still able to just buy whatever influence they need to expand their brand despite how terrible their product is. I guess the larger public really does just crave braindead content gruel....

Yeah actual sports coverage itself sucks and then you add in all the betting and fantasy stuff. I bet but I'm not going to watch a show with "experts" telling me how they bet. I can't remember the last time I watched anything on ESPN that wasn't a game itself. I used to watch a chunk of college game day until McAfee took it over. Last week I saw a Tetris tournament on ESPN.

I actually think ESPN does a fairly good job with its NFL coverage compared to NBA, MLB, or NHL. It's not perfect but they do have actual nuanced discussion and analytical minds on to talk about things in the NFL world. Unfortunately they do mix in some of that brain dead toxic arguing as well but for their NFL coverage at least it's not completely that.

With that said I think ESPN basically only makes money on televising actual sporting events, I don't believe any show just talking sports makes money(for ESPN or any other network)

I'd agree with this except for the fact that their Draft coverage is unwatchable. No more NFL Network draft feed is the real travesty here.

I can't watch any pre or post-game coverage on any network. It's all either boring or cringe.

Can we interest them in another GB QB? One lightly used Malik Willis for a 2nd sounds good :D
