Hes done well to steady his 3PT to 31% it looked like it could crater bad mid season when he was benched.

Once he gets that to 34%+ hes a long term nba player

Successful rookie season for Ryan Dunn.

19.1 minutes per game. 74 games.

6.9 points
3.6 rebounds
1.1 stocks
0.5 TOs

Shooting 43/ 31/ 49
He attempted 3.6 threes per game.
Great POA defense and hustle.

He ended the season with 4 consecutive games scoring 12+ points. And his rebounding has been impressive in the 2nd half of the season.

I think we have our starting SF for years to come.

I think it was mostly only Sabre and myself and possibly only one or two others that had belief in Dunn making it at a solid level as a player. Look at his work ethic and improvements as a low key victory lap here.

Credit to you guys. I thought his lack of offense was too big of a hurdle for him to get over in order to get good minutes. But he somehow became a confident (although still not good) 3PT shooter which gave him enough value to not look like a weak link offensively. His defense is otherworldly which we we all knew.

Really hoping he takes another leap with his shooting and ball handling because that is what will elevate his game to the next level.

For sure you're right to consider those things and it's only reasonable to have concerns over those aspects of his game..for my part, I was leaning heavily into his work ethic, shooting form only needing slight adjustments in squaring up more, and his previous history going back to high school being an offensive option.

And of course the context of how he was underutilized at Virginia, and had his opportunities limited to a specific role there as a defensive stopper.

But I hope that he truly does keep continuing his development with us too. I feel that for him, getting an actual legitimate opportunity to grow fully beyond just the defensive end of the court will be the ultimate catalyst for his success.

The dude was always just a 35+% 3ball away. If you can’t shoot, you aren’t long in this league*. A few bigs are the exception, but even they are few and far between.

* take note Oso. He’s going to have to monster up the rest of his game…but he is shy on the physicals. He’ll be a cost cutting roster spot casualty

I'm super excited for his development/future but maybe let's pull back on the victory laps until he actually is a positive shooter/offensive player

Lol. Im all for the excitement, I think he can be good.

But hes not actually good as a shooter/offensive player YET, so "I told you so" is premature.

Dunn is a hard worker. Also would've been good to get CP3 for one more year, but apparently our "smart" FO preferred Smart, who they were not able to obtain either.

They were also concerned about CP3's leadership on on-court coaching style would clash with their rookie coach's. Maybe just me but I would've welcomed someone with CP3's experience on the court carrying out the rookie coach's gameplan. Ott might even learn a few things

It's fun to watch him work on defense.
