It seems like Vladdy gets lots of walks. Is that teams pitching around him or does he have a keen eye at the plate? It must be hard to get RBI's when you get on base with walks. If he is a singles hitter that should be very disappointing. They are paying him a ton but there is no salary cap in baseball to my knowledge. Are contracts guaranteed? If he does not live up to the contract could they get out of it if they wanted to is what I am asking?

Vladdy is basically becoming Joey Votto with less power. Reds fans used to absolutely hate on Votto for being super passive at the plate and always trying to get walks and singles instead of swinging for power. But at season's end, Votto would put up elite OBP and advanced stats.

I do not know much about Votto other then I believe he is Canadian. First basement usually hit for power I though. I take it that most fans of the team that watch most of the games are not to happy with Vladdy.

To be fair Vlad has averaged over 30 and 100 for the past 4 seasons. Votto never did that over his very successful career.

Yeah they were never gonna give him anything to hit.

This is not going to cut it, especially when the playoff teams around you have Skubal, Fried, Valdez, Crochet, etc. It doesn't look like Santander is close, and Varsho and Gimenez are both LHB, so they are going to have to find a way to add at least one RH slugger. Straw having another year left after this one is really bad. If they flipped Straw with Luis Robert (who they could probably get for next to nothing at this point), it would make a world of difference.

We are quite flawed against good LHPs, there’s no doubt.

Even adding someone like Lourdes would help this issue, the only problem there is the contract he’s on.

Not sure on the contract but Taylor Ward has a 926 OPS against lefties and would be a good get.

Big spot for Ernie here against a lefty.

Clement was at 300 for a while, down to 278 he’s been in a funk. Clutch hit though

Insanely good play by Peraza there sucks we didn't scrape another run across but with how Fried started 2 runs and the lead is something you'll take.

Only someone like Elly or PCA could've legged that out. The Yankees defense has been as good as it's been all season tonight.

It’s so much easier to score runs on HRs

Volpe being tied with Vlad in homeruns is objectively hilarious
