Trade 1: Dallas/Indiana - Daniel Gafford for Benedict Mathurin
--Indy gets a Myles Turner replacement, Mathurin's spot on the team seems up and down so this helps them get their big and have to worry about Ben's next contract. Dallas gets a guard on Cooper's timeline who can help space the floor for him and should be able to work well with a returning Kyrie. The subsequent trades should allow Dallas the room to pay him in case he earns it. But I like the idea of a preseason battle for the starting SG spot between Mathurin and Christie, earn it and its yours. Nothing should be given like guaranteed starting spots this FO has done for Javale McGee and Klay Thompson.
Trade 2: Dallas/Brooklyn - Klay Thompason for Derek WHitehead
--Brooklyn has a shooting problem currently with a bunch of rookie and Claxton who dont have that particular skillset, insert Klay. Thompson opens up the floor for their rookies which should help their game exponentially. "Brooklyn peeps get crazy loot, that's because when it's beef they ain't scared to shoot" Dallas gets a cheap rotational guy and yeah probably has zero relevance, but he's also an alum of the same high school and college Flagg went to, so maybe they can bond over that. But really any BKN filler will do, doesnt have to be Whitehead, just figured he's not really high on their priority list.
Trade 3: Dallas/Phoenix - Brandon WIlliams/Omax for Nic RIchards
--Suddenly Phoenix is rich in centers, but could use some more point guards and bigger wings. Richards is now expendable and the Suns take a chance on 2 cheap young guys to see if either can stick. Dallas gets a replacement for Gaff since Lively has had some early injury issues and AD is guaranteed to miss at least 26 games since he doesnt care about anything but the check.
Trade 4: Dallas/Sacramento - Naji Marshall for Two 2nd round picks
--This one has been talked about and most KIngs fans seem to eb on board. They get a swiss army knife wing they currently lack, Dallas frees up money and another roster spot to sign Nembhard out right
New Lineup:
Derrick Lively/Nic Richards/Dwight Powell
Anthony Day to Day/PJ Washington/Derek Whitehead
Cooper Flagg/Caleb Martin/Jaden Hardy
Benedict Mathurin/Max Christie/Dante Exum
Kyrie Irving/D'Angelo Russel/Dante Exum

Naji/Hardy/OMax/2 2nds for Grayson Allen?
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Rather not give up our last remaining seconds just to get Allen and lose Naji

Think only Sac does their deal off value.. Except Sac is too close to the tax to do their deal. If you addd Saric, you could probably keep Sac under the tax at 14 players and push them to add another second.
But I can’t see Indy or Brooklyn considering their deals. Brooklyn should be keeping flexibility and tanking ugly all season.
Indy should see what Mathurin looks like in a big role before moving him for rotation help. Maybe I’d like it more if Hali wasn’t hurt, but yeah. No reason for them to sacrifice upside this summer:
Phoenix is a nothing for nothing deal imo, but I don’t see Phoenix doing it. I think they can get a second or two for Richards. I don’t think Dallas’ guys have any value.

Can't blame a guy for trying

I take none of them for the Mavs. What's the point of all those unnecessary saving? I lane towards keeping Gafford long term. I am open to trade AD instead. Mathurian is not playing very well. Basketball IQ is a severe lack. I am not sure Mathurian starts over Max Christie at all. Klay also starts over Mathurian. If you're unloading contracts for picks, the return is not nearly enough.

agree with jay. Also think in the end you've traded away the 2 best players pre-Kyrie at getting to the rim. This offense is already going to be super challenged and I think you've managed to make that worse. You also made the shooting worse.
The bigs went from the one strength on the team to a very thin, injury prone group.
And if Mathurin has a big break out being heavily featured as he'd have to be, is Dallas going to be willing to pay him?
I don't think the other teams do this on value. Dallas should only do this if they are punting on this season and really believe in Mathurin. Because this team feels worse on paper.

Wow it takes skill to make a team both worse at attacking the rim and shooting at once

Since that seems to be the general consensus, I'll take the L on this. Can you work your mod privileges to lock this?

I know the goal is to save money but can't they do better than 2 seconds for Naji? Seems like the kind of player every playoff team would like to have in their rotation.
