David price and tulo didn't work out. Tulo had shoulder injury and past his prime. Price struggled in the playoffs and was in the bullpen. Didn't start that last game. Gibbons didn't have confidence in him. Got hit alot in the playoffs

On July 29th, the Jays were 50-51. They then went 43-18 and became the best team in baseball.

It wasn't because of tulo..tulo had a shoulder injury and sideline for a long time. Price missed a start in the playoffs and sent to the pen..also, jays are doing great now with vlad struggling. Those jays were doing great because of E.E,Bautista,Josh and pitching. Go back and research. Tulo didn't work out... in fact, after signing with Boston, one of the questions price faced by reporters was his playoff struggles in Toronto.. price replied " I was saving it for boston"

He may haave *said* he was 'saving it for Boston' but his 13.50 ERA and 2.40 WHIP in the 2016 playoffs for Boston suggest that maybe he locked it too tightly away.

David Price was 9-1 with the Jays with a 2.30 ERA, 2.22 FIP, and 2.6 fWAR in 74 innings.

Tulo struggled offensively. But he was a massive upgrade over Jose Reyes defensively, posted a 1.2 fWAR in 45 games, and tied for the team lead with 11 RBI in the postseason, including a massive 3 run home run in Game 3 vs the Rangers to get the Jays back in the series.

Saying they didn’t help the Jays that season is ridiculous.

The leftfielder, Ben something, was good too. Greatest deadline in the history of baseball, unless someone shows me a better one. And all the whining about AA drained the farm system, but none of the traded prospects amounted to anything much.

I don't think a Price Tulo type deadline is even possible now though

One of them is currently closing games for this team.

Jose Reyes couldn't even field a baseball at the time we traded him away. Huge upgrade there.

Guess I haven't paid much attention since 2016.

Yeah, the Jays got so good because they were finally strong on both defense and offense after the trades.

You could say they didn't work out over the long term but there's no doubt they helped a lot that year.

David Price definitely helped. But Jose Reyes -> Goins would have had the same impact as Jose Reyes -> Tulo for the rest of 2015

I expect he’d disagree with that after the contract he just got

But ... The Jays scored over 5 runs per game when Price was on the mound. We could have picked up any 3rd-4th starter/innings eater to win those games.

Sure those Jays were ~.500 at the ASB. But they had a great run differential. And we all know how important run differential is.

I would probably be content with even 3-4 (assuming there wasn't some clearly blown games there)

Just can't have a terrible weak.

And we ended up going 5-2. What a week. And all 5 wins were either in a convincing fashion and / or by 3 runs or more.

I would have been content with 3 wins -- this team put me to shame.
