Charlotte in: Wendell Carter Jr and Jett Howard
Charlotte out: Pat Connaughton
Chicago in: Pat Connaughton
Chicago out: Nikola Vucevic
Orlando in: Nikola Vucevic
Orlando out: Wendell Carter Jr and Jett Howard
Why for Charlotte:
They have a big need for a center and get one who's locked in on a team friendly deal for multiple years. They also get a look at Howard who was a sniper in college, but as struggled with his shot in his first two years.
Why for Chicago:
Both Vuc and Pat are on expiring contracts. The deal saves Chicago about $10m this season, and opens up playing time for Collins and Smith.
Why for Orlando:
It's a short-term upgrade at the center spot and Vuc's floor spacing would be very welcomed (40% on threes last season). His defensive concerns are less of an issue on a team with so many strong defenders. Allows Vuc to play to his strengths.

I'm not a Carter believer but is Vucevic really an upgrade over him? I guess he's more durable but he's atrocious on D and no one who takes 6 threes per 100 is stretching any defenses.

spaces the floor better than someone who takes four 3's per 100 and hits only 23% of them
Vuc performed better than Carter in the following categories last year:
point per game
rebounds per game
assists per game
steals per game
blocks per game
fouls per game
FT%
3P%
2P%
eFG%
TS%
ORtg
VORP
BPM

So chances are, yes, Vuc is an upgrade over Carter.

I think it’s a solid trade. Vucevic is underrated after spending years in an awful Chicago system with a poorly fitting roster around him. He’s literally not played next to one actual PF his entire time there.
Orlando can make a push this season and Vuc has a higher ceiling than Carter.

if magic make any more moves will be at deadline to get under tax or real needle mover ..this is not it...do not see any interest in this to pay more tax and would not even be legal they are hard caped at first apron wcj fits better...do not need a 15 shot a game center that is awful defender

I guess what I don't understand is how the Bulls save $12M in the contract exchange. They could have made 3 dozen trades if they hadn't had to match Vuc's $21.5M

Charlotte has too many contracts as it is, so can't do a 2 for 1. Cut Orlando our and just swap Pat for Vuc straight up, it would be a great fit for Charlotte... have you seen our C situation? lol

We have to buy out Pat just to get to 15. Add Vuc and we are back up to 16 again.
We'd have to dump Green into an MLE and spend a 1st unless Green goes with Pat for Vuc.
All these teams trying to help Charlotte have to take Green.
He's being treated like kryptonite (deservedly). Too funny.
It has been written...

I'd much rather cut out Orlando and snag Vuc
investigate Adam Silver

i prefer the younger, more defensive WCjr myself.
easy yes for me. cut who we have to cut prior to the trade to make it legal. might need to approach Green about a buy out
