As bad as people think Simmons is he is about 10000000 times better than the pathetic excuse for bigs Stevens plans on trotting out this season.

Niang and Hauser are pretty identical players. Niang has more of an inside game. I'm very curious to see if Brad Stevens keeps both. Both are 40%+ three point shooters which will be important for spacing. Interested to see what Brad does with those two players.

100% agree with giving minutes to the young guys. Simons does nothing for us.
If it’s a minimum for 2 years and we move Niang…then fine I guess, but I want to see what Minott can do, and Walsh with some PT and of course Hugo.
Freudian slip?
Leave their mothers out of this!

At least the other bigs will shoot the ball. I could easily see Jaylen and Simmons getting into it during the season. Probably the first time Simmons passes up a two foot shot.

Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26
If I had to guess, I'd say it's about a 50/50 chance between NY and Phoenix for Simmons, just for the usual bias on locale, market, weather and other reasons why a player not particularly interested in basketball would make a decision.
And yet... as someone fascinated by reclamation projects, I can't help but be intrigued by the "what if..." scenario in Boston.
It usually doesn't work out. Jabari Parker I rooted for, but his shot and defense weren't there.
Blake was a reclamation of sorts, and it ended up working out because he still had some internal drive to compete. Simmons has never really shown that.
Final take (for now): If Ben wants to be here and the Celtics are interested in reforming him, I'm in. It's going to be a dry year, likely, and I'm not concerned about any toxic effect on the youngsters if Ben reverts to form.
The Ben and Joe show is potentially too entertaining to pass up for a pilot season.

I have zero worries about Simmons choosing the Celtics, he ain't about the right stuff and would never join a team where he has to meet expectations from fans.
That stuff ended after his Sixers tenure.
This is probably just his agent trying to fluff him up as many have previously stated.

Less fun, but OK. Honestly, part of the reason I wouldn't mind a Simons trade is just the annoyance of auto-correct changing it to Simon's. And it's not like I'm typing his first name all the time.

Nah Penny is retired. Unless Simons brings back little Penny! That was top tier in commercials! Chris’s voice is funny asl!

Gotta get a new face for the doll and use Jay Pharaoh’s voice or something. Different but the same feel.

Bobby Manning:
Simons and Niang can’t be combined with other players in trades until September 7
“I don’t think the Boston Celtics are here to tank…that’s not in their DNA,” Scotto said.
Signing Simmons would guarantee at least part of 15 roster players, a rarity for Boston to begin a season. Bassey, a free agent, hasn’t signed elsewhere yet after leaving Las Vegas after three games with the Celtics, which was pre-arranged, according to the team. Uncertainty at the center position could definitely warrant bringing one of those players to camp
Scotto also mentioned Brooklyn and Utah as the most likely destinations for Simons.

It would upset me if they only bring back picks in form of assets, I want players, IF you trade Simons. I’ll understand them doing it but I’ll still be miffed. I’m not rooting for picks until they’re used!

A couple of takeaways from the article:
-Norris, Williams and Shula will be the 2-ways. So we can stop debating whether someone else should get a 2-way over them
-Simons and Niang have both been at the team's facility this summer..it's a maybe, maybe not thing in terms of whether they are still on the team when camp opens in October..Hauser could get traded too but that seems less likely than Simons/Niang getting traded

If I’m not reading it wrong, he seemed to be saying Simons has been in the facilities after the initial trade requirements. It seems like it’s been multiple times since then. Is that what you’re understanding?
I wish they would get it over with, I still haven’t done deep dives on Simons or Niang. How can I say with confidence that they are going to be GOATS here if I don’t watch all their videos and read articles?!! Does Brad think I’m going to waste much time without knowing they’ll be here?!!! Sure I’ll watch Timi’s stuff, but no way am I giving them CELTICS FAN treatment!
Luka and Minott are steals BTW!! IDC IDC, they are destined for Celtics greatness, even though there’s -5 minutes worth of footage on each!

If his choices are the Knicks, Suns, Kings and Celtics. all except the Knicks could offer playing time, but the Celtics could really offer playing time. It seems like a chemistry risk for Boston, but it'd be something to contemplate what diabolical scheme Joe Mazzulla might come up with to get this guy to shoot the ball.
Ben Simmons vs Joe Mazzulla alone would EASILY be the most fascinating storyline entering camp.
