I remember a game against Cleveland where Andre Miller scored about 32 points against us.

We were down three and Darvin got fouled on a two. He missed both free throws and got his own rebound, and hit a fadeaway three to send the game to overtime. It was one of my favorite basketball moments. But of course we lost in overtime.

I found the game, it was March 8 2002. I’ve always wanted to see a replay of that Ham shot but they don’t have it anywhere.

I was at that game. It was crazy. It was the only 3 he made that season (1-7)

I've been looking for that shot forever. It's been wiped from the internet somehow.

Looking like expansion is slowing down and NO relocation is picking up steam. Assuming NO goes to SEA. I wonder if the NBA would just move MINN east.

Much more natural rivals in us, Chi and Det.

NO is in the west. If they move to Seattle there wouldn't be a corresponding move to the east.

Is this actually picking up steam? Or still just Bill Simmons conjecture?

Just murmurs that expansion has quieted because a few owners dont want to give up more in revenue sharing, so relocation is the next logical step and NOLA is the clear favorite to be the candidate that does.

It's an interesting balance. Two new teams franchise fees, which would be huge, would be split between the 30 current owners. But TV revenue would be split between 32 instead of 30. Apparently the difference is enough to make the owners consider holding off on expansion for awhile.

I just want Seattle to get a team back. I miss the Sonics. I don't really care if that's expansion or NO relocating

Understood. Just don't think it does some big injustice to have 16 teams on side and 14 on the other.

Granted I'm not seeking out news on it, but this is the first I heard on expansion slowing. Seemed inevitable that Sea/Vegas will happen soon. But I spend lots of time in Vegas and what I've heard is the arena plan had hit some issues/roadblocks. So I guess this aligns with that update.

That said, Vegas already has a ready arena on the strip so I never understood the need to build another one and have it be off strip. They could easily pivot to just using the Knights arena during the initial move. If I was them that would've been my plan (over building off strip), share the arena and wait for the right situation to come up where you can build it on the strip. I think the opposite end down past the Wynn where there is tons of open space could be a move, build a whole district around and bridge some of the gap to the new mega resorts a bit further down that are struggling right now.

And yea if Sea/Vegas happen MN is an easy shift to the East and be put in the division with us and Chicago

Vegas builds arenas/stadiums like nothing, it's really incredible. The MGM has a nice 17,000 seat arena, T-Mobile is really nice (where the Knights play and The NBA cup semi's/finals play). And there are two groups that want to build arenas for an NBA team. The LVXP, on the north end of the strip. They have released renderings of that project. And Oak View Group has plans for a $1 billion NBA arena/$3 billion dollar development 3 miles south of Mandalay Bay. No public money.

I've been to T-Mobile, there's no reason that can't be used as is but there's talk that it would take a $300 million upgrade to host an NBA team. I'm not sure what else they need to do with it. Allegiant is beautiful and the new A's ballpark renders look really nice. And they have the Sphere, which is very cool (not for sports).

Aren't the Mavs' owners from Vegas? With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mavs move to Vegas and basically do to Dallas what the Sonics-Thunder did to Seattle.

Mavs to Vegas has been a thing since the team was sold but I don't see it happening.

What I’ve seen is the Mavs owners have one of two plays: they’ll force Dallas to allow they to build a casino/legalize gambling or they’ll move the Mavs to Vegas where they’ll get a free stadium with attached “entertainment center” (casino and hotel).

A couple weeks ago, Silver downplayed the NBA's desire to have a team in Vegas. He mentioned they're looking at expansion and specifically mentioned Seattle and Mexico City, but he said it's been hard to get the owners to agree to letting more teams in because it would mean everybody gets a smaller piece of the pie.

Givony going back to run DX is nice news for us draft heads. ESPN really going through it with the hoops brain drain.

I remember years ago Cuban saying you'd have to be an idiot to be an owner and vote for expansion. Essentially voting to dilute your own stake/share. That said, when you're already all billionaires you could do what's best for the game at times, but thinking like that is not what's led to them being billionaires.
