What’s happening in the NBA? A lot of guys are going overseas, many we hoped would be a celts in the last 5 seasons alone. There are many good players that aren’t in the NBA. I don’t like it.

This comment did kinda remind me about Brad. Even though he drafted him, Brad HATES small guards. I mean, hates them like the plague. It's by the sheer grace of God that Pritchard is so good that he CAN'T get rid of him, at least not before finding a legit replacement. But those below 6'4 are not tall enough to ride this ride here.

IMO it's strategic. It could be a sign Simons is not going to be moved if Brad's trade talk intelligence indicated there isn't a good match. Or that, since 6'3" guards are the RBs of the NBA, any package sending Simons or Niang out likely would have a small guard coming back, Davison wouldn't have a runway here this year. White/Pritchard/Simons takes out all of the 96 available guard minutes. IMO White and Pritchard take all of the "PG" minutes. Finding time for Scheierman in a regular rotation may be a challenge.

I was hoping they would whittle Simons down to a SG they could get away with playing 20 minutes a night and have a slot to rotate some of these 9th-12th guys in and give Davison (and a couple others) frequent cameo appearances even with good overall roster health.

Brad's main focus with guards is bulk. Fair to conclude he also would rather have a roster with no one under 6'4". But he recruited guys like Norad at 6'0" even at Butler, but they were all instructed to eat up because they were expected to bump.

Someone has to be a 2G, all we have is White and again, maybe Simons. That’s only 3 guys for 2 spots. Brown is likely a s/f and p/f. He has what Rico, Walsh, Minott, and Hugo behind him? I don’t think any of them are a two.

Yeah, I don’t think PG/SG are too full to see if JD could do something in a few minutes early season. 3/4 seems to be overflowing if Walsh is looking for minutes. I’m sure he’ll get the first crack since he’s been here a while, but he has more guys in his position than JD IMO.

Not saying I would choose JD over Walsh. I’m just bummed they dropped JD.

Not saying my thinking is right, but I see it this way...
PG - Pritchard (32), White (16)
SG - White (16), Simons (32)
SF - JB (24), Hauser (24)
PF - Niang (24), Minott (14), JB (10)
C - Queta/Garza some leftover minutes for someone to fill in small lineups

Yeah it seems a bit weird to waive him so soon, but maybe gives him a chance to find other opportunities? IDK,
I’d have liked to see him ball a little but oh well.
I am guessing it might something…..
Just not Ben Simmons please lol.

Yeah, 3 guys for 2 spots, that’s what we have fully healthy. Then let’s just talk preseason, if any real player gets more than 20 minutes I’ll be shocked. If the regular season early games aren’t all close, I just don’t believe you can’t find a few minutes for him then.

Everybody agrees that we aren’t going all in this season, right? I’m just asking why we can’t try things. We know who White, Pritch, and Simons are, there is room to slip a couple minutes to another guard in here and there. 3 players for 2 spots is banking on no injuries. I hope there are none, but it’s rarely how things go.

Feels like Simons' next deal floor. He probably gets more, cuz he's better, but not as MUCH more as people would expect. Basically MLE money, maybe a tad over is the very most I would expect. I could even see something around 3/$40M range.

Which is what I have been saying all along. People are assuming we can't sign Simons next summer due to salary issues. But I keep saying we might get him for dirt cheap. He is so much better than the "scrub" status some keep assigning to him.

If the numbers are to be believed, defensively Simons is worse than a scrub.

The warriors are shafting kuminga. He’s better than that package too! I bet he would be seen in a much higher light had another team picked him! He has so much potential, but he should’ve been given the chance to play a long time ago, to get better in the areas he lacks in. The warriors are so messy and I don’t think it’s fair what they have done to that kid! Treating him like he isn’t human imo!

Yeah, I've been saying that too - after this summer it's hard to see anyone with his skillset getting a lot. I'm keeping an open mind if he's here, but usually guys that haven't played D their whole career have been asked to at some point. Not like we're the first team that's gonna say "hey there's 2 sides of the ball". Even offensively while he has some playmaking abilities along with the scoring, he tends to not do a ton off-ball. The pros are pretty solid though, so if we keep him and have someone that can get in the paint and the also improves a little on D and cutting, screening, etc, then great.

I think the odds are against it, so I'd go for financial flexibility or some small asset or a trade for a long term player using his salary first. But, if all else fails and we keep him, then we get to see if he can wow us.

Really? I think that package is an overpay for a S&T, lol.

Warriors system is tough and they try to force you into it rather than playing to your strengths, but nothing seems out of line to me. Young guys don't get pt on contenders. And RFA is a brutal process when no teams have cap space.

This has been going on for many years now. Carsen Edwards, Semi Ojeleye, Vincent Poirier, Shane Larkin all went overseas a long time ago. Yabusele went overseas a long time ago..then came back to NBA.

It happens.

And it'll keep happening because there's probably more men who are talented basketball players right now than ever before. The number of talented players in the world keeps growing every year as 60 new guys get drafted each year, plus another 30 or so guys get signed as UDFA so that's like 90 new NBA players each year but only like 3 guys each year are retiring. So that leaves a surplus of talented players which compounds with each passing year..especially since the world's population keep growing.

Also, a lot of these guys would rather go overseas where they can make good money, play competitive basketball in front of good crowds and get 20-30 MPG or more, rather than sitting on the bench in the NBA and have some games where they don't play at all.

Plus as an end of bench guy in the NBA, you have no job security, you can get waived at any time and then you're right back to having to look for another job essentially and will have to move your family again.

But overseas, if you're a top player, a lot of those guys stay with the same team for 5+ years, with better job security. Sergio Lull just signed on to play his 19th consecutive season for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, there's guys in the NBA who are on their 5th team in 3 years..

It'll be less of an issue when we get 2 expansion teams. It's not even really an issue though since these fringe guys can just go play overseas if they aren't good enough for regular NBA mins.
