If it was that important you'd start Moe and not bench Franz lol

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Benching the team's highest impact player (according to all On-Off variants) would be something.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Man... It's not that crazy of an idea. Manu did it, and we're about to have a team that is all hungry for touches.
I'd put Moe in the starting instead, but that gives less touches again to the starters.
I'll restate the only reason I would suggest it is that out of all the Starters, I could only see him or Suggs being willing to sacrifice his starting position for the sake of the team.
I'll just backpedal and say let Franz get some 3rd and 4th quarter minutes with Moe.
Jeez...

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
I've been away and haven't thought about the Magic for a bit, but I just fell down the YouTube rabbit hole of Jalen Suggs highlights (mixed in with HS bands covering metal songs, etc).
I may be guilty of forgetting what a savage he is and I'm really pumped to see a healthy fierce Suggs/Bane backcourt. Just watching his football highlights makes me think he's more of a PG than we've seen...his reads on broken plays while scrambling to elude tacklers is really something. With our new offensive minded assistant, we could have 5 guys routinely averaging 5+ assists.
Suggs might yet be MUCH MUCH more than a spot up shooter/elite defender...he could be an All-Star someday soon if he takes a few steps offensively. I forgot what kind of competitor and finisher he is...LFG!!

Suggs should continue playing PG. but I don’t think it will serve all of us well if he plays with the ball. He is too erratic will all the energy built-up in his system. He is better off conserving that energy for defense.

Ideally we get some properly staggered minutes so all 4 of Franz, PB, Suggs and Bane get time leading other lineups, and 2nd unit guys a chance to show what they’ve got. Given the tenacity Mosley likes the team to play defense with, there’s no reason our 4 starters shouldn’t have plenty of juice left in the tank come 4th quarter.
Moe will probably get the most out of PnR work with Tyus Jones (or AB if he can show growth in that role), IMO. We have to find that MoJo mojo again when he’s back and healthy.

That'd be a neat trick...to play "PG" off=ball

It’s a crazy idea though. As eriyq pointed out, Franz is the most positively impactful player on the roster by a wide margin. Why would you ever want to intentionally lower his minutes? If anything, you’d want to play him even more if he can handle it without a downturn in efficiency and effectiveness.
Yes, Manu did it and the Spurs were very successful, but as crazy as it sounds they probably could have been even better had they been able to play Manu and Duncan together even more.
By bringing Manu off the bench, his time was more limited with Duncan (their best two man pairing by a lot) than it could have been.

He doesnt have to play as a PG. he just has to play at PG.

If Suggs plays 65-75+ games this team is going to be winning most nights.
It doesn’t matter where he is on the floor.
He wins basketball games when he isn’t a focal point of the offense.

Because I wouldn’t lower his minutes. I’d split it close to 50/50:between the 1st and 2nd unit, and let the kids run the other team out of the gym. Franz and Moe would destroy 2nd units by themselves. Adding Tyus,AB, Isaac and TDS is still an insanely long line up and could do its own damage imo.
It’s basically what the Pacers did last year, and I feel we have a better shot when everyone is running like that. Paolo can eat all the USG on starters and run over the defense, then Franz and Mo can do the same in the 2nd unit.
This also could be achieved by staggering players as you’ve suggested. I just think Franz defers too much when Paolo is on the court, and the brothers Wagner PnR should be used more.

It is not possible to play a player 35 MPG off the bench.
Heck, it is really not even possible to play a player 30 MPG off the bench.
28-29 is about the max and that’s pushing it.
If a player is coming off the bench, they’re sitting the first 6 minutes of each half while the starters are in the game.
So that’s 48-12=36 possible minutes left over.
But no NBA players are going to play 18 consecutive minutes in any half either, so in addition to the 6 minutes starting each half that Franz would be on the bench, he would need at least a 4 minute break in each half as well.
36-8=28 minutes per game max.
It just doesn't make sense to bring a guy you want on the floor for as many minutes as possible off the bench.

Vuc might get bought out… would he welcome coming back home on a vet min? I’m not the biggest fan but at the vet min, we could use him while trading WCJ or Goga for cap savings at some point during the season.

I don’t think we can afford him.

Let’s build a lineup out of current free Agents;
Elfrid Payton
Mario Hezonja
Chuma
Bol Bol
Mo Bamba
All have started games for us and 4 were rotational players.

Hezonja has serious contract with Real Madrid that lasts for 4 more years.
Others... oh well...
Fultz and Bamba are so damn dumb listening to their agents. They should have left from NBA last year, invest next two years in working on their game playing for some elite team coach in Europe and either return to nba like Yabusele or make serious money.
