I don't think Dallas (or tbqh any team) gives up a FRP for a Coby White rental when Kyrie will return sometime this season and they already have a stop-gap.

Re: Chicago - Dallas - Boston - Charlotte
this is the kind of move I can see Charlotte making in like late Nov/early Dec if Kalkbrenner is just straight up not ready for NBA minutes.
Right now, I'm not interested in adding more backup/third stringer guys at C. 4 bad Cs is not better than 3 bad Cs, we should be looking for actual upgrades that make Moussa Diabate a backup.

Zero interest in paying a first for White and then paying his next contract when AD and Kyrie are eating so much of the cap

Re: Chicago - Dallas - Boston - Charlotte
Without Russell, and insisting on competing this season, easy yes for Dallas. With Russell, and insisting on competing now, they probably still should. But can you get White to re-sign knowing he's a backup? And if so are you willing to pay starter's money for a 6th man? I'd like to say yes, you do knowing you only have Kyrie for one more gtd year after this one and maybe you convince White his turn is nigh? There is money they could unload to afford him, though it may cost you PJ as well.
I think the actual Mavs probably pass and keep trying this two timeline silliness and that they believe in Russell, Flagg, Exum, Williams, Marshall a lot more than I do as shot creators.

White is much younger than kyrie/AD and fits Flaggs time line better imo

Doesnt make him worth an unprotected first (the only real potential asset Dallas got for Luka) and whatever contract he might demand when its time to reup.

For Boston I don’t love adding so much 2026/27 and beyond Salary for not useful players. I’d rather hold Onto Simons I think and retain flexibility.
The Hornets second probably makes it fair value wise but I’d pass.

Nah, that LA first doesn't have much value while Luka is there.
I'm up for trading Coby but the return here giving up Smith as well and getting back Simons is a no.

The value is fair to get rid of Martin. Anyway, non-shooter like Caleb Martin won't play as much. I think I want Coby White to play more than DoLo. But is it the right move at all? I don't know. It depends on the defense and White's extension. If the Mavs does this, they have to extend all of PJ, Lively and White without bothering about the cap. And the Mavs could be out from the trade market the next couple of years until AD and Kyrie expire. In this way, the Mavs has to draft and develop young players well.

That 1st is gonna be late. It's the Lakers with Luka. This is like when they got AD and people actually thought those picks/swaps they traded to N.O. were gonna be worth anything. They were worth zilch. Because the Lakers never suck. And when they start to, somehow someway they always get bailed out

Who knows it, anything could happen, it's still an unprotected 1st. I mean in 2023 Mavs missed the PO with both Luka and Kyrie on the roster, same went for the Lakers in 21/22 when they finished the season with the 8th worst record in the league.

There is a lot of variance on that pick. 4 years away. Luka will be 30, surrounded by what ever collection of free agents the Lakers sign. They have pretty limited assets to build much.
I’d say the over under is probably like 17th pick…I might take under.

on the OP: interesting, but IMO the Charlotte portion doesn't work (I agree with HornetJail) and I also think it will take more to move off Simons salary
I'm really posting to comment about Flagg's "timeline". Yes, White is closer to Flagg's time lone than AD and KI, but he is 7 years older than Flagg, and will probably (like most small guards) age out of a significant NBA role in his early 30s -- i.e. before Flagg hits his prime.
If Dallas is going to go on a "2 time lines" approach, most of the guys on Cooper Flagg's time line aren't even in the NBA yet, and most of the rest are on rookie contracts.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind
