IMO I like Bamba. He is good enough that he can obtain stats like Mark Williams so he can become a trade asset if need be.

That all being said, Hornets really should be trying to trade for a legitimate center of some form.

I like Bamba as a vet min third-string "why not" bet...He's NOT a good defender but he will block shots and he's always a threat for a big shooting night from 3. Still young and can't teach that kind of length. I wouldn't expect much, or plan to rely on him but he's a good bet, imo, when the alternatives are old solid but limited pieces like Plumlee at the same spot (nothing wrong with Plumlee either but, in CHA's position, go for the upside).

Do not entertain the possibility of Bol Bol as an NBA player and, if you must, consider him a very long SF - not anything remotely like a C.

if Bamba is playing enough to "obtain stats" then Charlotte's season is already over

I still think trading for Vuc makes the most sense. I guess I'm not really sure what Chicago is planning to do this season, but I can't imagine it would take much to get him at this point.

If they wanted to take a bigger swing in case someone like Sabonis becomes available, we have significant draft capital to put towards a "needle mover" type trade for a team wanting draft assets to rebuild or reset. We also have plenty of guards!

I think they should trade for Claxton with the surplus of less valuable players and picks they have...like sending the HEAT+ pick to the SUNS FRP along with Connaughton/Green/Diabate

Ball/Kon/Miller/Bridges/Claxton
Sexton/SD/Mcneeley/Williams/Kalkbrenner
Mann/Smith/Jeffryes /Salaun/Plumlee
Old Mike Lorenzo

….not as much sense as not signing him at all.

Very disappointing.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Bamba is one of those guys who coasts around the league for a while because the idea of him is great, but the reality never matched up.

Donovan Clingan was sitting right there, and the Hornets drafted a nobody instead. Such a Charlotte thing to do.

He would foul out before he able to put up mark Williams stats

Mo Bamba isnt even JAG, Cha could surely do better with just about any signing or trade, except Bol Bol of course

He was a niche favourite on this very trade board a while back.

Haven’t amount to much since but you can’t teach size

If they want to take a lottery ticket flier on Bamba no one could fault them. Fine to gamble on upside with your their string guys, but they're so weak at center already that I don't think they should downgrade their third center on some idea of upside with Bamba that's been all fictitious to this point.
I don't think you can even argue he has upside at this point. We have seen enough.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
