2015 Jays finished +221. Good luck to the 2025ers.

And the 2015 lost to the royals. We’re winning it all this year

They're saying we and the Dodgers are the superteams, now.

Except that the Dodgers are spending almost 100 million more in payroll than the Jays. If the Jays had another 100 million to spend on this roster like the Dodgers, it would have been a true super team.

I feel like playoff choker David Price would've folded to this lineup in 3 innings or less.

Bautista would bring them back with 2 clutch HRs in the late innings anyway.

Would Brett Cecil be available for the '15ers? That's the swing question.

The lineup options vs lefties is clearly not as good as the ones vs righties (Lukes, Barger, Loperfido, Wagner vs Schneider, Straw, Jimenez). That's why we need another RH bat, he does't have to be an everyday guy, just someone who mashes lefties. Who could that be?

One option is Luis Robert.

165 wRC+ vs lefties this year compared to a 48 wRC+ vs righties. Career wise it’s 148 vs lefties and 100 vs righties.

Not sure how he fits with the culture of this team, tho. That guy is not exactly known for his hustle.

Ozuna, Robert Jr., Laureano, Austin Hays, Bader, Mountcastle (bad this year but has been hurt), Lourdes (who would cost nothing to get but the contract is bad).

Jeez, we got a guy that was arrested for domestic violence and driving drunk. A guy that was suspended for steroids. A homophobe. And a guy that is volunteering to play for israel.

Can they hit lefties though?

Let the good times keep going.

Best record in the majors baby. We are hitting, we are playing good defense and pitching well. This is too good to be true! I can't believe the turnaround.

How valuable can he he if the team turned their season around without him.

Extremely valuable if you believe WAR where he’s either 1st or 2nd from a rate perspective. Clearly a team cancer though.

What good is WAR if you are barely hitting .200, while striking out a tonne on a consistent basis? Varsho has power, but is also hitting .174 right now over 6 games in the minor leagues like someone else mentioned. I love his defense, but this team took off right when he got injured.

It is not a coincidence this team started playing so well, when two guys like Santander and Varsho (struggling to hit .200 all year, poor On Base numbers, and striking out a tonne) got hurt. Varsho can start against Righties, and be a Late Inning Defender when he comes back. Utilize him in a Myles Straw role. Have him hit 9th. He should not be an automatic Starter right away. Having Straw on this roster for late inning defense makes Varsho less necessary. I would prefer to trade Varsho (looking around 10 million next year), but I doubt this organization will do that.

I remember the knock on the 2015 jays was they would always go for home run hits instead of trying to play small ball. This current team is the opposite of that.

If you’re the best power hitter, defender and baserunner on the team as Varsho is, it counts for quite a lot it turns out.

They’re not utilizing one of the best players in the majors in a Myles Straw role, he’ll he playing every day when he returns this week.

Varsho is invaluable to have in the CF position. Just have him hit 9th

Man there's some serious Varsho disrespect going on here. We just saw in the Yankee series how much of an impact power can have. Especially against tough pitchers where consistent offence is tough. A guy like Varsho who can provide that power and be the best defensive CF in baseball will be a huge boost to this team. Straw has been serviceable, but he isn't a guy who should be getting regular at-bats. Varsho is a guy you make space for on the team.

Straw has been terrible at the plate for the past five weeks. I have no problem with Straw going to the bench, and Varsho replacing him. However, I would still prefer Varsho only start against Right Handed Pitchers, and be used as a Late Inning Defender like Straw has been in all other instances.
