Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
Just curious, who y'all want to be the GM/president of Heat once Riley steps down? In-house hire, like Andy Elisburg or Adam Simon? Spo?
Sam Presti and Brad Stevens aren't going anywhere. So, those that want Riley gone now, who is your candidate and why? Do they have proven track records? Or just hire a young basketball mind like Stevens and hope for the best?
Personally Spo might be good at it if he does want the job.

Wade, Haslem, or Zo would be cool but very good chance id say Adam Simon is the Riley successor

If it were me, after the upcoming season becomes the expected flop i think it will be, with potentially 90 million in expirings after wiggins trade, maybe more if we find a partner for Herro. The Heat will have a clean slate moment for a new president, im backing the brinks truck to Bob Myers.
I like spo but i think he will want out, if that position isnt his.
I said a few years ago the same with the Dolphins.. back up the brinks truck to Ozzie Newsome..
We need to get the new era started and it starts when Riley is retired.

I did think about Bob Myers. But idk.. it's possible he was just lucky to ride the Curry era, who he inherited.
Myers picked Wiseman who missed most of his lone year in college, thus a bit of a question mark, with #2 overall pick. (I would've traded #2 pick n fillers for a proven veteran depth to strengthen the dynasty.)
He also picked Harrison barnes, Poole, and Kuminga who's still a question mark.
His best contribution to the GS dynasty is Draymond obviously. But without Curry, Idk what Draymond's career could have been.
He also was helped by the billionaire hedge fund owner who was willing to write blank checks during his years. But who knows? He might prove to be a good gm for his next team

I just added your argument from the other day about Heat scouting department messed up picking Beasley. Nothing created.
You seem to have a pattern of blaming without doing the dd. Just pointing that out.
You speak nonsense. The scouting department that picked Beasley was from 17 years ago. Not the same group as today given that Elisburg took over in 2013 and a lot of scouting/coaching personnel have come and gone.
My Michael Beasley trash talk was more a rhetorical question of how can a team get a pick so wrong as opposed to my current critique of the team being one that had the worst playoff series of all time and should not be on that treadmill life.
And winslow wasn’t a bust, he was broken by Spo. Dude was playing PF and even C in a SF frame. If you gonna cite my statements then get em right first.

You are the one who criticized Heat for picking Beasley only couple pages ago when every team would've picked him at #2. We can debate about Heat not developing him, but Beasley was either #1 or #2 pick that year. Cooper Flagg may not turn out to be the best player of the 2025 draft. But every team would've picked him given the #1 pick in 2025.
Complaining Heat for not being able to see the future for everything that turns out terrible after seeing the results is just playing Monday morning QB. Yup, the hindsight is always 20/20
It’s literally a fallacy to create a fake argument that your opponent is making and argue with that fake argument. It is called a straw man argument.
Again read your own claim of #10 seed playing against #1 seed as the "worst performance in the NBA playoffs HISTORY".
How many times #10 seeds played against #1s in the history of the NBA playoffs?
I'll agree that they are the WORST #10 SEED IN THE NBA PLAYOFFS HISTORY. lol
Yo what are you even saying here? I don’t even know why you are making a big deal if you agree with whatever point I didn’t say that you claim I said that you are agreeing with. Too much to follow.

Whoever is most qualified and actually wants to do the dirty work of a GM. Zo or Simon would be my choice.

Are you not even understanding that #10 seeds NEVER EVER made to the playoffs in NBA HISTORY?
The play-in tournament allowed an unqualified team to win two extra games just to squeeze in.
Lol, me agreeing that they are the worst #10 seed is in tongue in cheek. Because they are also the best #10 seed as well because no #10 seed won two games to make the playoffs EVER. You see? Just absolutely no dd on your part. Just whining n whining about your own team

Harrison Barnes is no star, but he's been a starter for 12 of his 13 seasons in the NBA. Also the best player left on the board when he made that pick (as it turns out) was Draymond Green and he nabbed him in the 2nd round.

That was a great draft for the Warriors.

Our seed doesn't matter. It was the playoffs and we barely showed up.
Where he is wrong is saying that it was the "worst performance in the NBA playoffs HISTORY". The Nuggets and Mavs both lost in the 1st round as #1 seeds. There's also the #1 seed Bucks that we gentleman swept in the 1st round just a couple of years ago. Those are far far worse.

Youre right… but we did have the most lopsided first round loss in nba history. So thats a record that no one has. Just us, led by Herro.

I absolutely agree. My only problem is him putting it in that frame. I was only hoping for one win tbh against Cleveland. It was a mismatch. And last two games was just brutal. But as a fan I was happy to see 6 more Miami Heat games than they actually deserved (2 play-ins and 4 against #1). Just get up and dust up and move on, hopefully we'll get a better seed n do better next year.

Yup, the score is a score. Nothing to be ashamed of imo, unless there was a big expectation and was a better seed
