I think it's best for everyone for him to be somewhere else. Boston being the front runner makes sense. He could start at C with Tatum, Brown, White, and Simons. Not 5-out, but he could sort of play Jrue's role.

I don't mind Ben saying no. I was always worried about his ability to handle NYC mentally. He could barely handle the Nets and no one in New York even cares about the Nets.

The worst case scenario for us would have been if he actually accepted our offer and couldn't handle it, and at least he has enough self-awareness to know that might have happened.

Unless Ben becomes one of the first players to dramatically improve his game at the age of 29, we have lost very little in not signing him. As you said, he was more liklely to dramatically disrupt the team.

I don't know if Ben can handle the scrutiny of playing for the Knicks but it just seems like some random tweet referencing some random article where supposedly an anonymous GM is speculating that Ben wouldn't want to go to New York.

The article also says that the Knicks want to use more of the bench this year and wouldn't want to add Ben because he is injured often and that would block them from getting a look at the young guys which makes no sense. That's like saying Mitch missing most of last year blocked the Knicks from getting a look at Hukporti.

Return to New York Knicks
