Wish the they would sit on the decision on Webster for a year and see how this season turns out. He had a large hand in this, if this thing fails, he should also be gone.

And every single name being listed in that article sucks. Operate without president for a year if things go well, sure, promote Webster. If not, clean house, which would start by hiring someone more capable than those listed that actually had recent success in their roles. i.e. no has-beens or anyone related to failed teams like Bulls.

I’m a big believer in bringing in execs from winning programs. There are always exceptions of course, but bringing in someone from franchises like Chicago, Sacramento and other also-rans is absurd to me.
I am not in the “just give it to Bobby” crowd, but I’d rather they do that than hire someone who hasn’t been instrumental in building a winner previously.

I think the way it was reported was bobby moves into president role and brampton/bulls guy moves into vacant bobby role.

I can't believe there are people on here who didn't get that from reading the article. Eversley would be Bobby's assistant.

Before making Bobby president, I want them to see what moves he makes to get them under the tax and improve this team with cheaper contracts.

There shouldn't be any rush in hiring a president.

As much as I love Bobby, who was the architect of the Kawhi trade, and lead the Raptors to their first championship, I also kind of want Masai's stench gone completely from this team.

Let me save the CAA search time and they can hand me money:

The absolute best move to do is either hire no one at all and let Bobby manage both (lean a lot on our AGMs) and promote him to president. Bit of sink or swim, even as interim president.

Alternatively. Bring in Casey for a year. It'll be goodwill to casual fans and some MLSE. Let him nap and just do PR while Bobby does the actual job. Huge waste of money but at least you give yourself some time for Bobby to get his legs under him.

I think you can take your time with this to find the "right" president for the Raptors. It's not like the Leafs are rushing (yeah different roles) but it also took some time for the Leafs to hire Brendan Shanahan. You don't need to make a hire just to fill Masai's role - especially since this likely came down to cost cutting. Bonus - you also give Bobby a bit of time to scout for a replacement.

Bottom line. Don't be silly.

Nah. Give him the spot. What stench? The greatest era in the teams history? The stench of champagne? Lol

No but really, I'd be interested in bobby having the chance to really cement himself instead of people always wondering if every move is a bobby or masai move. Let him run it. Let's see what's what. Decide from there.

Who cares if they think Eversely would be a fit as a GM. He's been useless since BC days and hasn't done anything good in CHI. Just cuz he's Canadian? Lol. This process is a joke. Interviewing him for any position they should be embarrassed. Guy is a Nike rep. Dont want him near this team.

Just curious, Casey is only known as a coach. How do you know he wouldn't make a good GM?

In regard to the Kawhi’s trade, yes it’s probably Bobby who negotiated the trade. But it’s Masai who took the decision by gambling by trading his best players (Derozan), a top prospect (Poeltl) and a 1st for a player (Kawhi) coming off from injury with no interest of being a raptors.

Leaders are able to take hard decision.

I am in the Bobby’s camp. And indeed he was instrumental into bringing Kawhi here. But I don’t know if he is the “architect”.

Let’s say Masai wasn’t there and Bobby the top leader, it’s impossible to know if he pull such a move .

I love to bring in Chad Buchanan to either replace Masai or fill in the GM role. The Pacers have made some great moves in their middle build. They have a lot of overlooked guys from Tyrese to Nembs to Nesmith to now bringing in Jay Huff. They all fit well together and their is a real identity to the team.

What exactly is the difference between Bobby and Buchanan? If anything, Bobby has had more success.

I like that Buchanan has a scouting background, but not sure any of us can gauge how good he is as a GM.

Monte McNair is the best candidate on the list. Super smart and has a lot of experience with winning organizations. People rip him for one trade that also worked out well for his team. He worked for a dysfunctional owner

Pritchard is a snake. No thanks. The fact that MLSE prefers him is obvious because of his recent success, but he's been around awhile and gone down in flames before, and he will again. Please do not hire this man.

Casey would be an absolute joke.

Eversley would be the Kelly Olynyk of management moves.

If we're going to be a serious franchise it can't be any of the bottom 3.

You have to ask if any of these candidates are worth overturning our entire front office. If bobby is passed over i cant see him staying long. A new guy is also inevitably going to want to fill the FO with his own people

Brings in a search firm just to consider Marc Eversley. You can’t make this stuff up.

Don’t need a president and a GM.
Just need one of them.
What do they do all day?

The job as presently constructed is not a desirable one, so the expectation should be that you aren't getting a top candidate to take it. That would also bring into question why they are so hell bent on replacing Masai instead of just operating without a President like many teams do.

McNair isn't a bad addition to a team but should he be running the entire organization? All of his success was when he was in lesser roles.

This kind of fan opinion brokering is so over the top. It is one thing to say "it was time for person or persons to go" for xyz reasons but to imply there was anything foul about the air around the Raptors either figuratively or literally is really excessive. This after our most successful era. Anyone who contributed to that era of success is being openly ridicule here by some kneejerk fan.

they obviously don't want to spend on the position so that alone limits the candidate pool.
