He’s not the solution.

Find someone who loves you as much as the Bulls love mediocrity.

Sadly the only solution for the Bulls is new ownership. Billy has been fine, he's even improved a bit the bast couple seasons.

Really it's just a bad look to announce this before re-signing Giddey. Like everyone knew Donovan wasn't going anywhere after the Bulls declined to let the Knicks interview him, there was no rush.

Good coach in a bad situation. Of course how is he going to say no if they decide to continue paying him

Smart and good coach. Bad roster and terrible staff Directory is the problem

Dude had the chance to be one of the greatest college coaches and he consigned himself to mediocrity with the Reinsdorf Bulls.

Marc Eversley is staying loyal to his coach. Good decision.

Both Marc and Billy need to do a better job at drafting and building.

Some of you act as if Billy hasn't had a say in the teams roster.

The bulls are the best franchise in the NBA at being the most average at everything. It's like the meme people make about being a .500 franchise, nobody is better than the Bulls at it.

Y'know, it's funny.

Donovan is absolutely not "the problem" on the Chicago Bulls, but the fact that the coaching situation on the Bulls is this stable, is itself more evidence of the rot at the top.

I've always been impressed by what the Bulls have done defensively under Donovan. They've assembled some of the worst defensive rosters in the league, but are somehow never laughably bad. That top 5 defense in 2023 was incredible. I would expect them to be a bottom 5 defense every year building around guys like Vooch, Lavine, and Demar (3 of the worst defenders at their positions in the league).

I don't like much about the Bulls, but I prefer- when a team has a good coach- hold onto him rather than enter the purgatory of changing the coaching deck chairs every 1-2 seasons.

Billy isn't the problem. You need sufficient talent to move forward. They've been highly inconsistent at either end of the floor, sometimes pretty good and sometimes not. Lavine being hurt in 2024 didn't help, and sending him AND Demar to Sacramento didn't help either.

It's been a weird one from Chicago management.

Billy is a solid coach. I don’t see a problem with keeping some continuity there rather than just scapegoating the guy.

I think we should see it more. Coaches are an easy move, but they fix very few actual problems if the talent isn't sufficient to task, so it's just empty-calorie deck chair shuffling most times.

EDIT: To clarify, I mean we should see teams keep their coaches more.

I don't see him being either the solution or the problem. Give him a legit roster and see how he can coach them. Until he's given a center who can defend the pick & roll or guards who aren't sieves on the perimeter (Giddey, specifically), it's a lateral extension. Personally, they need to build around Matas Buzelis' skillset. Only then will they really see a true direction for how they need to build a legit winning team.

I'd be a little bewildered if i was a bulls fan.

Not that he's been awful but given the state of the team should anyone really be extended long term? What's going on?
