The Lakers are acquiring Marcus Smart. They need to cut ir trade someone. Could we do a three way trade with Milwaukee. Lakers trade Knecht, Milwaukee trades Tyler Smith and the Bulls trade Javon Carter. We add Knecht and Smith. Milwaukee might want a second round pick.

Smart to Lakers, actually a smart move. He isnt the same player he was, but he is the dog, hustler, energy, good defender, veteran help.

CP3 to clips for $3.6M. I'm liking them a lot this season. The all old man team.

Kawhi - 34
Harden -35
Bogey -32
BroLo -37
Batum - 36
Beal - 32
CP3 - 40

Those are some names!

Having a full older squad is never a good idea. They might have talent but age always shows especially when we are talking about a 82 + game season.

GSW are also in the same boat, too old. They got to atleast mix it up a bit, add a few younger guys to do the dirty work and compliment the older stars.

Same could also be said about a team being too young without any experience. Always needs a bit of a mix to make it work.

Obviously older than ideal, but LAC got most of these guys for nothing.
Lopez - just signed, no assets outgoing
CP3 - just signed, no assets outgoing
Beal - just signed, no assets outgoing

And the muscle & hustle guys are at a great age, Zubac/Collins/DJ are all 28.

And the cost efficiency is just insane...CP3 + Beal + Lopez all together are making less than Patrick Williams by himself.

Pretty sure Doug was on the Kings last year.

also not sure I saw doug as a guy who would make it 12+ years in the NBA but here we are.

What are you mid-summer, dogs days of the NBA hot takes?

For me, I think Atlantas offseason is being over-hyped.

Their big additions were:

Porzingis
NAW
Kennard
Asa Newell

Their projected lineup is probably

Young/Krejci
Daniels/NAW/Kenard/Bufkin
Risacher/Djurisic (2nd round pick)
Johnson/Newell
Porzingis/Okongwu/Gueye

Which is a good looking starting lineup on paper, with some redundant depth in NAW and Kennard.

Big concerns will be Porzingis' health - does he actually play? Missed over half the games last year including playoff games.

Backup point guard will also be a concern. What do their non-Trae minutes look like?

Are NAW and Kennard upgrades over LeVert and Bogdanovic who've provided similar roles in the past?

Porzingis availability is a huge question mark to me.

Other then that they're the same team.

Except that Daniels was a rook and will improve, so will Risacher, Johnson was out IIRC and will be back, and KP is very good when healthy. I see them, if healthy, as a top 6 team in the East.

Daniels was actually in his 3rd year sco.

But he'll definitely come back better, IMO. I agree with your opinion that having Johnson back and a likely improved Risacher. NAW is an upgrade over LeVert in that he's actually a pretty good defender, Kennard adds shooting and some playmaking. The only real concerns are Porzingis (but they have Okongwu, so hardly that concerning) and their back-up PG spot (although Krejci is actually not too bad).

They've got quite a few that can provide some playmaking whilst Trae is on the bench for like 10 minutes a game and plenty of defense.

I agree that top 6 is definitely a possibility for them.

Also, Okongwo could play the 4 next to a stretch 5 like KP and they could sit Risacher if he isn't ready yet.

They had a great offseason because they got NOP's unprotected pick next year which is a great draft. It's as likely as any to be a top 4. And all they had to give up was Derek Queen? Didn't even give up any players of value for it like Risacher or Jalen Johnson. It's a long shot, but that move could be franchise changing if they get Dybantsa.

The Porzingis, NAW, and Kennard moves were pure additions. They gave up nothing but Niang who barely played for them and some 2nd rounders. All excellent moves considering they really gave up nothing in the process.

I think if Porzingis only plays half the games and is there for the playoffs then that's an improvement for them. Capela was okay, but it seemed like Atlanta wanted to move on from him for awhile.

The Hawks finished 8th last year. I think it's reasonable to think that they'll improve a bit (7th? 6th? Higher?). It's possible that they regress, but I'd be surprised. The East will probably be weak this year.

Well he got a money from ESPN. Now he can do what he wants. He is doing his early Griffin from Berserk . Selling himself first to make something for himself. Dislike those guys. But hey good for him.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.
