Losing Varsho, Kirk and Springer….. different story. Luckily Varsho is ready to return to replace Springer if he is going on the IL after last night, and Kirk is only out a week (hopefully). So Heineman (and his .900 OPS) can step up.
With Bo and Vladdy hitting like the all-stars that they are, Varsho coming back, and the emergence of Barger, Lukes and now Loperfido. They need pitching, pitching and more pitching.
If you want to make a real run a world series, you need a deep and dominant bullpen. Like 6 or 7 studs deep. If either of Presley or Duran are available, those would be my primary targets.
An ace starting pitcher ( like Price was ) would be amazing too, but not likely. ..
On the offensive side, the only thing they are really lacking is an elite HR hitter. A better idea may be to go for Suarez …. To be the replacement for Santander (as their DH) this season while Santander is injured…
I would agree with that argument about Gimenez and Santander.
I also agree about pitching. A top of the rotation starter would be nice but a bullpen that can handle high leverage situations and close out games should be priority #1.
Not much power available other than Suarez so the price will be steep. I think we should allocate trade capital on arms and have faith that Vlad will find his HR power and Varsho will add some when he returns.
