DeRozan + picks = Barrett?
Kings get the better and younger player, the Raptors get the guy who started everything. They are rumoured to bring back Casey as the President too so this could realistically happen. The Raptors are in the culture building phase of their rebuild.
DeRozan + 2 2nd picks (2026/27 CHAR)
Barrett
Poeltl / Mamu
Barnes / CMB
Ingram / Agbaji
DeRozan / Dick / Walter
Quickely / Shead
Sabonis / Eubanks
Murray / Jones
Barrett / Clifford
LaVine / Ellis
Monk / Schroder
Fair deal?

Re: DeRozan + picks = Barrett?
It's fine without the picks (it could even be argued that the Kings need the sweetner due to salaries). Neither player really has a trade market, but if the Kings are going to attach draft capital to DDR, they should aim for someone better.

Sac should be looking to pay assets to improve Demar not a mostly lateral move
Both teams should really be trying to improve the fit of their roster and this doesn’t do that at all..

Yeah I think it’s the Kings not the Raptors who are owed something here. Neither guy has much of a market but at least DDR is expiring

Re: DeRozan + picks = Barrett?
Not interested unless we are getting assets back in the deal. Dont want either player, but demars contract is better and I could actually see a contender grabbing him at the deadline. Barrett is just a negative

I think it is the other way around. RJ + picks = DeRozan

Barrett is a bad contract, DD is at least serviceable bench scorer on a good team.
Picks would go the other way.

What makes Barrett the 'better player' aside from being younger?

Is everyone forgetting RJ is a decade younger, and puts up almost better stats?? At least in rebounds and assists. Demar being expiring means nothing. Obviously Toronto hasn't been in cost cutting mode with the contracts they have been handing out.
Sorry, gswhoops. Not responding to your comment directly. The kings definitely would need to add value.

And Demar puts up better stats in TS% and turnovers, all with a lower usage rate. Add in the contracts, and I’d rather have Demar at lower salaries annually, and the $10m out next year. The slight advantage in assists and larger advantage in rebounds just wouldn’t matter much for a scoring wing, to me.
I’d have it pretty much a toss up. 2nds to your favorite team just because, as we say around here….

Re: DeRozan + picks = Barrett?
Expand it to include GSW.
S and T Kuminga to Sac
DDR to TOR
RJ to GS
Sac and GS each get a TOR second.
Filler as needed to make money work.
I’m betting that this would be much more palatable for the Dubs than the current offer. It could also be the rumored protected first (it won’t be ‘26 so don’t bother if anyone is thinking that) from Sac to GS and two TOR seconds to Sac to offset.

Of course the money matters, particularly when neither team has much space to work with. The Kings would only *need* to add value if they really wanted Barrett on his contract, and based on reporting, no team really wants that. Players aren't trade assets just because fans want them to be.

Derozan is a much worse defender. Both are eh on offense to me, but defense is the difference maker for me
RJ was forced to be a 1st option on a crappy team while demar played with other offensive stars so obviously his game is more efficient last year.
I have RJ better now and moving forward. But to each their own.

Barrett improved alot from his new york days and there could be further room for improvement with a better team thats actually trying to win around him. Demar aint getting any better at his age. Time will tell.

This. Because realistically who wants Barrett? It's not like hes 21 and might take a massive leap forward. He's going on his 7th year in the league, he is who we thought he was lol.

Take a look at his toronto stats vs new york stats. He took steps forward (he was terrible in new york). He was positive impact for first time last year i believe. Question is will he take more steps forward on an actually competitive toronto team now. He did well in lesser role on team Canada. There is a possibility he follows the career path of Wiggins.

Neither player has much value. Not sure how picks come into it.

Toronto has never been a real player in free agency so any cap space really doesn't mean anything. So for Toronto the money doesn't mean anything.
