But even if he doesn’t, I don’t think you trade LBJ unless he asks. He’s Lebron. Even if you are done with him, you make money off of him for the last year, respect his legacy and tell him no thanks next season.. Unless Joker or Giannis or something ridiculous gets offered, you keep Lebron for one year and move on quietly next year?

Yep, I trust that source, but he's Lebron James. He has a de facto one as he should. I'd be pretty surprised if he wanted to leave LA, Luka, and his son. He's called Luka his favorite player in the league basically since he arrived and Luka uniquely allows Lebron to have to carry less weight offensively in the regular season.

LA is getting dismissed too quickly as a threat to OKC in the West imo. OKC is the clear top tier team, but I'd have LA as least as much of a threat to them as Denver even if they aren't a HCA regular season team.

1. Mikal Bridges to LA for Reaves.
I know LA has to add value, but Bridges could leave for nothing in the summer or potentially demand a deal that is too steep. Could be Reaves+Vando+picks?
For LA he fills a major need at the wing between Lebron and Luka.

2. Lebron for KAT.
Some dude from B/R think KAT is one of the worst contracts in the league. Not sure I agree, but the idea is interesting and KAT does have his limitations. Lebron would probably balance the team quite a bit and if he won in NY his legacy would get a major boost. For LA they essentially would have two of the most offensively gifted players and try to build around that with defense and shooting.

These two trades are god awful. Reaves and Bridges both need to be paid. Bridges being a 2 way player means he is more likely to retain value than Reaves who is basically an offensive player (one could argue lesser than Bridges at that). Reaves also thinks that he is going to be worth a pretty penny.

Now KAT for LeBron, if you want to include a future unprotected pick(2031) and an unprotected swap(2032) I will take old man LeBron and you can have a 3 year window of Luka-KAT.

I dunno why anyone would think I’m not making a serious offer, a Luka - Towns swap makes a lot of sense. The Lakers have no quality bigs but do have Reaves & LeBron to handle the ball, and they rid themselves of the headache of monitoring Luka’s belly.

Brunson: So what are you paid to do?

Honestly, if Luka didn't just go full Ozempic and shred there could have been something to this.

Does NYK fans realise that a Lebron for Towns trade would make them a stronger team this year? Lebron would solve their worst problem, having a second playmaker to help Brunson(they can always have one of them on court), while being a efficient scorer and a better defender than Towns. A lineup of Brunson/Bridges/OG/Lebron/Robinson would be the best chances NYK have to win a tittle in what, 50 years?

Edit: As a Lakers fan I only do this trade if Lebron asks out. I'm keep our current roster and wait till deadline to use our expirings and (maybe) a 1st to get a 3d wing from some team that failed on it playoffs chase.

Does Lakers fans "realise" that the only reason they want this trade is because it rips off the Knicks terribly?

Lakers don't make this trade if they don't feel like they are winning the trade both now and later. Basically, they only make this trade if they feel LeBron is cooked. KAT is also extremely valuable because he scores in every way efficiently and hauls rebounds. He plays C and PF effectively.

LeBron is going to play about 50 games this year. He will then play throughout the playoffs. For a team with a ton of depth? fine. For the Knicks who don't have that luxury... it's a deal breaker.

We are good.

We’ll see if he sticks to the diet and workout routine once the games have started, or if he has the “flu” in the middle of the playoffs again.

You do realize that a second playmaker wasn’t our biggest problem last year…it was our defense + depth…and LeBron isn’t as good as Towns defensively, anymore (see below)…right?

Towns: 0.91 D Darko, 0.1 def EPM, defrtg w/ 115.43 defrtg w/o 112.37 dif -3.06
James: -0.62 D Darko, -0.2 def EPM, defrtg w/ 117.1 defrtg w/o 111.32 dif -5.78
