Interesting that Suarez had never played 1B in the Majors until sometime in the last couple days :reporter:

I'm not against giving Contreras a break but they barely utilize the other catcher we currently have.

Contreras seems like he has been really banged up, maybe he is heading to the IL

Absolutely awful trade, even with the surplus of IFs.

Not really sure why this was necessary if nothing has changed with Contreras. Does Jansen really bring much that Haase doesn't?

It’s just a lotto ticket… maybe even just a pull tab. Seems like a massive overpay through my layman goggles.

I'm not crazy about it but I don't think you've ever approved of trading a prospect.

It's true, but it's also the overall philosophy of giving up prospect capital for a two month rental. I think the odds of Jadher ever taking an AB with the Brewers was low, with the players ahead of him and especially considering they held him back a level this season over his mindset at the plate. But I don't think it's good business dealing players with actual value for a guy who's going to be gone come November.

Every prospect can't stay, knowing that nobody is perfect I more or less trust them to make largely good decisions on which ones to part with. It also is fine to trade for rentals sometimes. Most of the time those are the players teams are willing to trade over useful MLB players with years of control.

I guess I'm more trying to wrap my head around what their plan is for our catching situation now and how they really must not have trusted Haase to take on any kind of larger role.
