Might as well put Giancarlo on the IL now.

Let's see what this team is made of. I think I'm at a place with I think that firing Boone (although he deserves to be fired), won't be enough.

I'm of the opinion that we've relied upon Judge too much as a crutch to hold up our team for far too long. If Boone is a real leader, this team will get through this, and even flourish. If Cashman isn't total trash, then this team is going to look fine without Judge. If Hal is right, then all his cheap spendings are going to get us wins.

I'm also worried that they're going to use this injury as an excuse for when they crater to the last wild card spot and get eliminated.

Also, one reason the Yankees need to spend and not waste prospects during the trade deadline...

At some point, a real superstar like Paul Skenes is going to end up on the market. Every time we try to save money and overpay for reinforcements on the trade deadline, we lose another piece that could go in that package.

It's kind of like Hal and Cashman tried to pull that fake hustle move towards Kyle Tucker during the last offseason...

It will be the excuse. But we were already in serious trouble before Judge went down. We're 6.5 games back in the division and the Blue Jays gave us a thorough pounding up the rear.

We're not a contender. Roster wise and fundamentally this team is just not where it needs to be. The blame can be shared across the entire organization.

Nice to see our bullpen do their jobs for once. Unfortunately, it’s been our 3 most consistent guys and washed up lasagna for .2 innings.

Right. We wouldn't have had to trade for a 3rd baseman in season if Brian had addressed the problem during the winter. This is a continuous issue.

All that for a rental?

I'm good. McMahon's defense alone makes this team better.

Already down 2 runs. This kid is pissing himself on the mound.

I feel for the kid. Our offense was bad enough today that we needed him to be almost perfect.

Also, he’s in trade rumors right now. Not an easy thing for a rook.

Cashman assembled a team with decent talent. But given the payroll, it's a team worth less than $300M. That's before you consider how little the organization cares about basic fundamentals like defense, baserunning, contact hitting over 3-true-outcomes, etc. Not only is the team not living up to the $300M payroll, the whole is worth less than the sum of its parts.

Boone sucks and needs to go years ago, but Cashman likes his puppet. Cashman is the main problem. It shouldn't be that hard to find another GM who can play around with $300M.

And if Hal is not going to fire Cashman because he's too buddy-buddy with him, Hal should sell the team too. This is a business, not a country club.

In a sport with no salary cap and we're top 5 payroll every year, 1 world series in 24 years is unacceptable.

Let's put it this way.

Our starting payroll is about $300M.

With the way we're paying various guys like DJ Lemahieu to literally not be on the team, to guys like Stroman who are not living up to the contract they're being paid, we're blowing away tens of millions of dollars to players who are underachieving or not even on the team right now. The talent on the team right now is worth maybe $200M.

Then, you consider that team is being dragged down due to their lack of discipline, hustle, fundamentals, etc., and the product on the field is comparable to a team with maybe a $150M payroll but who actually cares about those things.

And then, you add in Boone's complete mismanagement of the game, whether it's terrible pitching changes, pinch hitting decisions, etc., and the team overall produces at maybe an effective $100M payroll. That means teams that have a $100M payroll but are actually well run can compete with the Yanks despite the huge payroll deficit, simply beacuse the Yanks are so poorly managed.

If you want to know why teams like the Rays can beat us despite them having no money at all, this is the reason why.
