So you think Caleb is going to be a bust?
He's most likely going to have a Kyler Murray kind of impact/career. Relative to the expectations put on him, absolutely.
He was on the downturn in 2023, lost more confidence in 2024 (ten game losing streaks will do that to you) and there's warning signs that he currently lacks the work ethic of a high level NFL QB. They're trying to develop an entirely different play style for him which is going to be extremely hard to do if he's not obsessed with becoming better.
Personally I HOPE to be wrong, but there's gonna be alarm bells early and I don't see him to be the most resilient kid just yet. The fact that his camp went out of their way to trash the previous coaching staff isn't a good sign to me. Shut your mouth and focus on working on your skills to get better because as fast as they anointed him, they'll bury him just as fast.
I prefer **** your mouth and let your game do the talking.
I will say the coaching was so bad last year I ageee with everything Caleb’s camp has said but I wouldn’t be saying it in public.
It’s just great to finally have a leader as a HC that isnt afraid to actually coach guys up.
It was obvious that the interior of the OL and the coaching staff were major issues following the 2023 season.
Poles misjudged it and basically gave Caleb the same crap that he gave Justin and got worse results.
He's the one who has put this entire thing together and here's my worry:
1. Caleb is a wildly talented young QB
2. Ben Johnson is a wildly talented young HC
3. They might just be a terrible fit for one another
Goff had success at roughly the highest level in the NFL prior to getting to Detroit. Lots of it predicated on the running game and play action and Goff staying within the system. The talent at the RB position isn't here and the OL is a step short of that Lions OL which was a top 5 unit throughout BJ's time in Detroit.

In 2023, he had the best completion %, the best yards/attempt, the best adjusted yards gained per attempt, and the highest pass efficiency rating of his college career. So hard to say "he was on the downturn in 2023".
First half of the year, he was better than what he was in 2022, second half (following the ND game) he was far less efficient and they lost 6 of his last 7 games.
