Malik Monk + 2nds for Terry Rozier
Sounds like the KIngs want to offer Westbrook a contract and want to create flexibility in order to offer him perhaps a multi year deal.
On that note, ill offer this idea
To Miami
-Malik Monk (3 years, $60.5 million - 3rd year P.O.
-2026 Charlotte 2nd round pick (56-60 protected)
-2027 Charlotte 2nd round pick
To Sacramento
-Terry Rozier (stretch waive - 3 years, $8.9 million dead cap hits)
Why?
-King create $11 salary flexbility if they want to sign Westbrook to a 2+1 deal for $5-6 million per
Schroder/Westbrook?/Carter
LaVine/Ellis/Davis
DeRozan/Clifford/McDermoit
Murray./Saric/
Sabonis/Eubanks/Jones
-The Heat lower 25-26 cap by $7.8 milklion and get back 2nd round picks for taking on Monk long term as backup to Powell.
Herro/Mitchell/Jakucionis
Powell/Monk/Larsson
Wiggins/Jacquez/Fontecchio
Jovic/Highsmith/Johnson
Adebayo/Ware/

Rozier is totally useless. I know no-defense combo guards have almost no value, but the return here is worse than no value.

Ya agreed with others. I'd keep Monk vs doing this. But Derozan for Rozier has made sense to me all summer.

Did Westbrook's agent write this?

Why would kings offer Westbrook a multi year contract ? Just overpay on a one year contract .

Im not sure anyone is going to give up assets for Monk, not even a straight expiring deal.
Tough market for 1 way players right now. Even Powell was dumped for nothing and I think he's better than Monk.

I agree monk isnt worth much, and powell went cheap, but this is an exaggeration. That trade was really LAC wanting Collins, and Utah not valuing powell during a rebuild. Utah saved a bunch of money and got a 2nd. Its very possible they got better "asset" offers, but preferred the cap savings. We've seen that a few times this summer.
And op has the Kings sending 2nds.

No one is acquiring Rozier with the intention of playing him while the gambling investigation is ongoing. He’s an immediate cut.
So Sacramento is essentially paying 2nds to turn Monk into $26m of dead cap here.

Yes. Which is clearly negative value. I am saying that Monk has little value because of his archetype, based on what we have seen this offseason, but he still has more than Rozier.

Re: Malik Monk + 2nds for Terry Rozier
This is a no for Miami.
If Rozier is suspended or banned, his contract gets partially removed (if he's suspended) or completely removed (if he's banned), and at the very worst he's expiring.
Monk is still owed $60 million over the next 3 years. Miami wants to be a cap space team.
On top of that, Miami just acquired Powell and we already have Herro. We also want a look at Pelle Larsson. How many shooting guards do we need?

So they can pay Westbrook more than market.

Miami already has 2 players of the same archetype in Herro and Powell, doubt they want a 3rd while also disrupting their financial flexibility

This would be such a bad deal for the Kings that even Joe Dumars would advise against it.

Re: Malik Monk + 2nds for Terry Rozier
With what appears to be a league wide devaluation of Monk's skill set, I can see his value being low enough for a straight swap where the "cost" of acquiring him is taking on the long term money. I do not believe it's low enough that 2nds being included to turn Monk into an expiring are needed.
That's on the SAC side of value, but on the MIA side I don't see Monk being a guy they want to commit to for 3 years when they already have Herro. Just not the right fit.

Yeah, I could have seen this if we hadn't just acquired Norman Powell, but we did.

For cap strategy alone this is the right call.

Miami has been trying to trade Rozier, though. The only value Rozier has is as an expiring. Therefore logically, they must be trying to trade him for someone locked in. Monk probably isn't the right guy, I will certainly concede.

Why would you assume that? When we tried to trade Wiggins, we were looking for Knecht, a first, and expiring contracts. When we traded for Powell we didn't immediately sign him to an extension. We're still working on cap space.
