Guys like Morris' embrace some of the toxic elements of the rough hoods as their culture, rather than it being something to get away from and to be thankful that you've done so.

Can someone tell me what makes this the case? To my knowledge they aren’t gang affiliated or anything. They seem like normal guys to me. Don’t think Disney would hire them otherwise. Guys like Stephen Jackson talk more about the “hood life” than Morris’ have ever done.

What I’m saying is that while they are from the hood I have never seen them display “toxic hood culture” that many are claiming in this thread. They have never been caught holding a gun like Morant or talk about drug culture. I looked up their personal lives Marcus did get in a bar fight while in college (which many people not just sports stars have done) and both brothers got an assault charge for fighting a dude who sent inappropriate text messages to their mother. But I wouldn’t necessarily call these guys hood for those reasons. I really think people are throwing around words base off appearance rather than actual events.

Yeah people can be tough and quick to defend themselves and still be, like, good people. Weird to think that everyone from a poor neighborhood has to renounce everything and everyone they grew up with or else be a terrible person.
