In last 3 blowouts, we scored 4 runs. Finally, we get good pitching, we score 2. ..2 games in a row Hoffman gives up a run in a tie game in 9th..against Yankees and now.. hopefully, Atkins realizes we need a stud in the pen

For all we have suffered under Shapiro and Atkins it would be nice if their Cleveland connections could help get a Kwan trade done. It wouldn’t be cheap but it’s time to go all-in and make a serious run this year.

If we are going to use our premium assets we should get a significant upgrade, which is probably more at pitcher.

Kwan is a 110 OPS+ (114 career) ... same as Lukes 110 (112 career). Lukes is a poor man Kwan.

Read what I said- having Varsho back relegates Straw to the bench. Straw has been terrible offensively for 6 weeks. So even though Varsho is a .200 hitter, he still has power.

The key guys are Springer and Kirk. Team is missing them badly. Varsho coming back, relegates Straw to the bench. Sorry, a guy hitting .200 with an atrocious On Base and with his Strike out rate, can never be one of the best players in baseball like your hero Varsho.

Varsho makes about a half dozen plays in the outfield the last two days that Lukes/Loperfido/Schneider could never even dream of

Nobody is disputing his defense. One of the best defensive players in MLB.

I don’t know but I feel there have been some questionable coaching decisions that haven’t sit well with me last week or so.

It’s more than hitters that can’t hit etc. but that just compounds the problem.

They've been bunting in such spots all season and it has often paid off for them, but there's a reason no other team bunts at the rate we do. It analytically is often the wrong decision.

Just some gaffs here and there the last week or so. Losing also latches on to those recency bias comments haha

Lukes is fine as a leadoff hitter against RHPs. Lets not let one bad series carry us away, Lukes has been delivering all season at the lead off spot.

We definitely do not want to put Bo back on leadoff. Bo is a hacker, and you want a high OBP player at leadoff, not a hacker like Bo.

If Lukes continue to struggle, I would just put Springer back on leadoff and move Vlad/Bo up to 2/3, then Barger or Kirk depending on the SP.

Win today and you split the road trip 4-4.

Obviously not ideal considering how it started, but not the end of the world either.

Then re-load at home and go on a run again.

I totally agree that pitching is priority #1. IMO we need another big arm (Hoffman is giving me Romano vibes…can we save a game without letting two guys get on base?).

Ideally Helsley or Duran, but Bednar or Jax would also be very solid if the Twins actually sell. I’d really like to see them grab Coulombe, who is probably more obtainable regardless of what direction the Twins decide to take.

Kwan would definitely be a luxury after adding a high-leverage guy to the bullpen. I’d trade for him over a starter but I know that’s a controversial opinion.

Choosing to not put too much weight on this Baltimore series

Double header, insanely hot, and more importantly you’re without your best bat and your starting catcher

Bo, Barger and Vladdy continue to look good, Loperfido could be a legit bat (if he stays), and Chad Green is gone. All positives

I expect another good/great reliever will be added and team will win the AL

Also he's not like slow plodding back-up catcher he's one of the fastest players in the league. Unless he hits an absolute rocket at SS hes not grounding into a DP either.

I dont dislike Kwan hes a good ball player (2.7 fWAR which would only be behind Vlad/Kirk). But hes another lefty that also can't hit lefties. So our entire OF would be bad against lefties. Ideally we would strong platoon for Andres/Barger with Clement/Someone like Ward or Luis Robert. Then move our pieces around as the game dictates.

Maybe we can swing Castro in a trade for Jax/Dhoran too? Have him play 3rd base full time as a switch hitter. Then we get the OF platoon with Barger and the 2nd base platoon with Clement/Andres.

Do we even have to play this game? Just give them their sweep and call it a road trip before we get anyone else hurt.

Call into the league office and forfeit the game, none of these guys want to be out there

I'm gonna be missing this game due to work. Judging from the early start, that might not be a bad thing lol.
